The campus boasted regal brick buildings, accented with dozens of beautiful fountains, statuses, and sculptures.
The university had lots of lush lawns and trees that were perfect for studying, pick up game, or a football game.
Naglakad ako papasok and I was welcomed by the sharp stare of students. The hallways were dark marble and white walls. The doors were glossy numbered with silver digits shaped handles.
As I continued to walk, I felt something wrong in the campus. Dapat nga comfortable ako dito, kasi this university is owned by my grandfather and in the future, sa akin niya ito ipapamana.
This is the reason why I entered in this university smoothly. Dad handled everything. Everyone in the city believed that I stayed already in other country, but they got it wrong, nasa Pilipinas lang ako.
I entered in my first class and most of my new classmates glared at me with insult in their eyes. Naupo na lang ako and afterwards, our professor came in.
A man in his 30's stood in front of us. He's wearing an eyeglasses.
Batang professor at gwapo pa, for sure marami ang nagkakacrush na students sa kanya.
"Good morning class, I am Wilson Salazar, and I'll be your Contemporary World professor," he said. Afterwards... he let us passed an index card.
"Ano ba ‘yan? First meeting may pa recitation agad," dinig ko ang bulungan sa likod ko.
"Kaya nga eh' lage naman siyang ganyan," sabat ng isa. "Pero ayos lang, ang gwapo naman niya."
Our professor started calling names. Most of my classmates stuttered in answering his questions, except for few na feeling ko mga scholars.
"Ms. Cindy Torres!" I heard him called a name. Di ko ito pinansin, later than I realized, oo nga pala ako ‘yun, hindi pa talaga ako sanay na tawaging Cindy. "Hey! Ms. Torres?"
Napatayo ako bigla and I fixed my eyeglasses. "S-Sir?"
"What is globalization? Why do we need it?" our professor crossed his arms at lumapit sa akin.
"Ah... globalization is the process of interaction and integration among people, companies, and governments worldwide," I cleared my throat. " With the increased of global interaction comes the growth of international trade, ideas, and culture."
Our professor slowly clapped his hands. As I sat down, I heard someone said. "We've got an additional nerd here, tapos ang pangit pa."
As much as possible, I needed to stay lowkey and unnoticed.
After my classes, I headed to the cafeteria. I craved for something to eat. I was about to bite my chicken sandwich nang may lumapit sa akin na isang babae.
"Hi! Pwede ba maki-share ng table?" she asked as she held her tray of food.
I put down the sandwich I was about to bite and I looked at her blankly. "Umm... ano sige," I finally answered.
She quickly sat and fixed her food. "Ako nga pala si Faith, magkaklase tayo sa Contemporary," she extended her hand to me.
She's chubby, chinita, at gaya ko she's wearing a thick brown eyeglasses. She's also wearing a loose polo shirt. Wala kasing prescribed uniform ang university namin.
"Ahmm... Syd, Cindy, oo ako si Cindy," I gulped as I accepted her hand.
"Saang university ka galing?" she opened up a conversation and I didn't know how to stop it already.
