KATERINA PETROVA laid on her bed, sweat beading along her brow as she pushed the life from her womb into the world.

"A little more, dearest, a little more" Her mother spoke.

"Push, a little more, push!" She instructed.

Katerina cried out as she pushed harder, finally delivering her baby. She weakly watched as her mother held the child and her father stood in the doorway.

"It's a girl" Her mother spoke.

"A girl" Katerina sighed with a small smile "Please, mother, let me see her"

Katerina's mother moved to give Katerina her child, her husband quickly stopping her.

"Woman, don't!" He instructed "What are you doing?"

The girl's mother turned, silently passing the child to her husband, ignoring Katerina's cries.

"Let me at least hold her once!" Katerina begged "Just once!"

"Forget it!" Her father exclaimed "You have disgraced this family"

He left with the child, his wife holding a guilty look upon her face, Katerina crying from her bed.

"Father, please!" Katerina cried "No, father, no!"

"No, Katerina" Her mother began soothe her, embracing the girl "It's better for her! It's better for her!"

"No, mother, please" Katerina sobbed.

"Let her go" Her mother comforted her "Let her go, Katerina"

"Please, mama" Katerina wailed.

River leaned back into the cushions, the couch holding him as he glared at the vampire before him. Elena sat beside him, Rose pacing across the carpet in front of them.

"You have to understand, I only know what I've picked up over the years" Rose began "I don't know what's true and what's not true"

River rolled his eyes.

"It's the problem with all this vampire crap" Rose continued "But Klaus, I know he's real"

"Who is he?" Elena asked.

"He's one of the Originals" Damon spoke nonchalantly "He's a legend"

"From the first generation of vampires" Stefan added context.

"Like Elijah?" Elena wondered.

"No" Rose was quick to reply "Elijah was the Easter bunny compared to Klaus, he's a foot soldier, Klaus is the real deal"

"Klaus is known to be the oldest" Stefan spoke.

"So the oldest vampire in the history of time is coming after Elena?" River smirked.

"Yes" Rose spoke.
