RIVER stood by Elena's side.

"Tonight is the full moon" Elijah spoke "We should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse"

"Elena and River said that the Sun and Moon curse is fake?" Stefan wondered "That it's actually just a curse placed on Klaus"

"Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline" Elijah explained "The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting, but if he breaks it...he'll be a true hybrid"

"Then why are we letting him break the curse?" Damon entered the room "We can kill him today with Bonnie"

"Damon" Stefan warned.

"Bonnie can't use that much power with our dying" River spoke.

"Why can't you work with her?" Damon asked.

"Because the witches denied me access to their magic" River sighed "And even if Bonnie channeled me, we'd both die"

"I'll write you a great eulogy" Damon said.

River send Damon a sarcastic smile.

"It's not an option, Damon" Elena snapped.

"All right, how do we break this curse?" Stefan asked.

"We'll, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward" Elijah began "The ingredients, so to speak, you already know"

"The Moonstone" Stefan replied.

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone" Elijah continued "After that, Klaus being both werewolf and vampire, will sacrifice one of each"

"And where do I fit into it?" Elena wondered.

"The final part of the ritual" Elijah answered placing a wooden box on the table "Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelganger to the point of your death"

Everyone shifted uncomfortably.

"And that's where you come in" Elena spoke.

Elijah revealed a glass jar to the room.

"This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years ago for Katerina" Elijah informed "It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation"

"So I'll be dead?" Elena asked.

"And then you won't" Elijah replied.

"That's your plan?" Damon scoffed "A magical witch potion with no expiration date?" 

Damon turned to Elena.

"You want to come back to life, what about John's ring?" Damon asked.

"Those rings only work on humans" River spoke "The doppelgänger's a supernatural occurrence, odds are, the ring won't work"

"I'll take those odds over his elixir" Damon spat "What if it doesn't work, Elena?"

"Then I guess I'll just be dead" Elena replied.
