RIVER sat beside Bonnie, his hand grasping the glass of bourbon in front of him as he ignored the glances he was receiving from the doppelgänger across the table.
"I feel like I'm going crazy" Elena whined "Totally paranoid all the time"
"You have a right to be" River stated "Klaus is still out there and he knows you tried to kill him"
"Why hasn't he made a move?" Elena sighed "There has been no sign of him, nothing, just my slow spiral into insanity"
"Join the club" Bonnie spoke "Every time I close my eyes, I have that nightmare, on repeat"
"The same dream?" River asked.
"Yeah! Four coffins, Klaus is in one of them" Bonnie replied "It's weird"
"What if it's not just some dream?" Elena wondered "What if it's like...you know...witch dream?"
"It's just stress, I'll figure it out" Bonnie denied "And what about Stefan? Has there been any sign of him?"
"He betrayed us Bonnie" Elena sighed "The Stefan that we know is gone"
"Hmm" River sat back, taking a gulp of his drink, Elena guiltily glancing at him.
"How is Damon handling it?" Bonnie wondered.
"Damon is...Damon" Elena answered.
River turned, glancing at the dark-haired vampire sat at the bar not far away.
-
River sat on the carpet in the Salvatore parlour, scanning boredly through one of his Grimoires, surrounded by four piles. One was to his left, the pile that he'd already made his way through, the other three he still had to go. He was reading through his grimoires again, searching for a way to get his magic back, fed up with feeling so helpless.
Damon was also in the room, stood by the table that held his whiskey, pouring the both of them a glass, the vampire feeling guilty at his betrayal, eager to make up for it. Damon placed the crystal decanter back on the table, picking up both of the glasses only to turn, seeing Klaus stood in the doorway.
"I think it's about time we had a drink, don't you?" Klaus smirked.
River looked up, a warm but wary feeling rising in him as he spotted the hybrid grinning down at him.
"I'd say we're overdue" Damon spoke glancing between then.
"Well, you've been so busy with all your plotting and scheming" Klaus replied.
You know me" Damon began with a fake smirk "Never miss a chance to plan an epic failure"
"Don't be so hard on yourself" River spoke blankly "Who could have guessed your own brother would betray you?"
Damon sent the witch a small but guilty glare, Klaus withholding a chuckle.
"Well, I did have a front row seat when your sister lied to you" Damon turned to Klaus.
