RIVER rolled over and groaned as a shrill ringing rang through the room. River then grunted as Elena landed on top of him, having been pushed off of the bed by Caroline.

"Go away!" Caroline covered her head with a pillow as both River and Elena glared up at the blonde.

Elena grabbed her phone from the dresser, exiting the room to answer it as River stood up, his joints clicking as he stretched.

"Where are you going?" Caroline poked her head out from under her pillow.

"The Historical Society's Tea Party" River sighed.

"You're going to that?" Bonnie smiled teasingly.

"Yeah I know" River smiled sarcastically at the girl "But who else is gonna watch Damon and make sure he doesn't do anything stupid? It sure as hell isn't Ric"

"You and Damon are literal partners in crime" Caroline spoke with a laugh "It's sure as hell not gonna be you either"

River opened his mouth to argue but shrugged upon realising she was correct.

"See you later" River spoke pulling his jacket on.

"Have fun!" Bonnie called.

River entered the Lockwood house, wearing a much nicer suit than the casual clothes he had been wearing previously. He scanned the room, seeing Damon stood with Carol Lockwood, speaking with Elijah.

"River" Damon smirked as the witch approached.

"Ah, Elijah, this is River King" Carol introduced placing her arm around the boy's shoulders "He's new to town but he's our resident hippie"

River raised an eyebrow at the woman next to him.

"He's all about crystals, and energies and herbs" Carol continued.

River scoffed quietly, a small smirk at the woman's words.

"Thank you, Carol" River smiled sarcastically, the woman thinking he was genuine.

River turned to the Original vampire.

"It's nice to meet you, Elijah" River greeted.

"Likewise" Elijah spoke eyeing Carol distastefully.

River stood by Alaric, watching as Damon entered the study with Elijah, their conversation needing some privacy.

"What's Damon doing with Elijah?" John approached and River rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"How would we know?" Alaric replied.

"Because you seem to be his little helpers" John replied.

"If you say so, John" River spoke "That's how everyone replies to you, right?"

"Does Jenna know about your extracurricular activities?" John turned to Alaric "Maybe it's time we tell her, I mean, she can't stay in the dark forever"
