I didn't believe in coincidence. To me, everything that happens must have been calculated and worked out by Baba God above. Yes I was a Christian. Most times, people mistook me for some atheist idiot who had no morals but shocker, I wasn't.

It wasn't a coincidence that she had stumbled into my life again. I had changed schools multiple times but how could it be that she managed to be in the exact same one my dad had promised would be a permanent placement till university. This had the Lord's doing written all over it, I was sure.

"What are you thinking about now?" Aliyu was quick to knock my blue face cap off my head, throwing a cocky smile my way, like it was a huge achievement. "Is it your business?" I shot at him, roughly forcing the cap back onto my head. I grabbed my phone off the cream coloured circular table and checked the time.

The cafe in the mall right beside the cinema was pretty rowdy, as it was Christmas season and people were everywhere, either here to see a movie like us or shopping or even having family outings. We we're sat at one of the bigger tables, having 8 seats, with us boys occupying 4.

It'd been 20 minutes since we arrived at the mall and the girls hadn't showed up. I had only agreed to come because Kolupo and Emeka had begged and even bribed me with airtime. "Daniel!" I looked up from the picture of my cousin which was my current lock screen wallpaper and to Ebuka who had not so nicely shoved me.

I gave an annoyed look, which also carried a message saying,  'what?' . To which he replied by thrusting his jaw in the direction of the entrance. An unconscious smile took over my face as I watched the three girls approach us.

On the left end was Stephanie, she had done her black braids up into two Donuts, letting two strands fall in front of her face. She had on a red plaid shirt that was tucked into her high wasted black jean skirt, putting on a pair of black and red designed sneakers. There were bracelets and other forms of jewelry here and there but she managed to pull it off in a casual way.

Right beside her was Kolupo, wearing blue skinny jeans and a deep blue and black plaid shirt untucked. Like Stephanie, she had on sneakers, black to be precise. Asides the watch on her left wrist, she only had a simple necklace with a letter 'K' pendant. As simple as always. The only thing that stood out was her black braid which had a mix of gold in it, she had let it down and it seemed to be going in every which way, but in a cool way. But in a good way.

Lastly was the girl who seemed to follow me everywhere. Mercy Adonkie had on an orange and black plaid shirt. I had caught on that they had all planned the plaid thing by now. She  had on black skinny jeans and plain black sneakers. But just like Stephanie, she was decorated with jewelry of all types. Her hair the most outstanding of all, an almost white cream color with multicolored tiny hairbands on a number of her braids. Like her cousin,  she had her hair down.

From time to time, a lot of boys had told me how weird it was whenever I took in full detail of people who were around me, it looked like I was either staring or openly checking them out. They said it was rather creepy and that as boys we were supposed to not care. It was the female's duty to notice changes and differences in us.

Other times, people assumed I zoned out on them. Where as, I was quietly taking in everything happening around me or actually zoning out. I payed too much attention to people, maybe more than I should for my own good. It was a sorta weird thing where I'd take in my surroundings and listen in on multiple conversations at a time and still reply in my own conversation like I was paying full attention all along. A gift maybe.

"So have you bought it?" I nodded to Emeka even though I had caught on to bits and pieces of what he was saying while taking in the girls or a specific girl. He was saying something about tickets and I assumed he asked if I had gotten them, which I had since I got here first as planned.
