The One Where Zayn Has A Secret

"I fell for you the way a train wrecks itself, the way a wave crashes into the shore. It looks like fear and it feels like recklessness. So maybe we'll destroy each other, ruin and break each other, but God, what a way to go."
Tina Tran

A/N:

I apologize for the delay with this update. my heart has been heavy with everything going on in the world and it just didn't feel right coming here. I can only try my best to help in any way I can, as well as hope and pray for things to get better in this world and for everyone to be treated equally as they have the intrinsic right to be as humans. I urge you to please continue doing what you can bc the fight isn't over yet and black lives do matter! ♥️

Warning: this story and especially this chapter involve Zayn entering the judicial system (literally jail and crooked cops, at that) so I realize this is sensitive in a time like this and possibly triggering, so please take note of that and make a decision if you'd feel more comfortable to skip. there is a pivotal plot point in Zayn's POV that I can't miss. I had planned to make this entire chapter the process of him entering prison a few weeks ago and had actually written majority of it up and have chosen to scrap it and shift to a tiny portion of his side of story. but obviously there's still plenty of mentioning prison and crooked cops bc that is part of his new plot line. hope everyone understands ♥️

I love you guys 🤍

and please, I could really really use comments as a pick me up (peep the a/n at the end) so pls show some love ☹️

Seeing Arielle's facial expression as they drove me away from her in the back of a police cruiser was enough to tear me to shreds. I could see the heart break written all over her face—the anger, the confusion, the defiance, the desperation. If my situation wasn't bad enough as it is, seeing her face made it even worse.

Let's not forget the fact that she definitely didn't want to go along with whatever the crooked cops were telling us to do. The one guy even hit her across her back and it took everything within me to not jump him and beat him senseless for ever laying his hands on her.

The ride to the police station was long and I nearly had a panic attack twice in the backseat. Every question I asked to the two assholes in the front seat went unanswered. They didn't even really chat with one another so the only thing I could do was watch our surroundings as they whipped past us and listen to the police radio as they ignored calls while bringing me in.
