Stupidity Kills

She drags him inside with all her strength. Her side kills from where she was hurt, but she pushes through the pain, getting Daryl into the kitchen. Laying him flat on the ground, she refuses panic to set in. If she panics, she might very well lose him. Grabbing a towel from the counter, she dabs at his right shoulder and left side. Getting up she runs, grabbing all the medical supplies she can find and sprinting back over to him. She feels his breathing shallow and watches his chest decreasing.

"No. Yer not dying on me damn it!" She cuts his shirt off of him and notices the huge claw marks on him. She begins applying pressure to both areas. Leaning all her wait on him, it takes a few minutes before it finally stops bleeding. Once it's stopped, she starts cleansing both wounds before she begins stitching him up. After he's all stitched, Beth wraps him up and he's all cleaned up, but the floors are covered in blood.

Leaving Daryl on the kitchen floor, she starts cleaning up all the blood. Looking back outside, she looks down at the dead mountain lion. Kneeling down, she's hesitant to touching it, but once she does, she can't stop. It's so soft and she never seen one up this close. Pulling it to the shed, she takes the next step to skinning it, even though she's never done this before, she knows that if she doesn't do it soon, it will spoil.

After it's skinned and she cooks most of the meat, she salts the other half of it and puts it into a tight bag to dry it. Taking it in, she checks the basement's fridge and freezer. Opening them up, she finds that both are working and she places the meat in there.

Back upstairs, she sits on the floor next to the unconscious Daryl. The runs her fingers through his hair. He's pale and his heartbeat is still slow. Tears come to her eyes and she can't even attempt to stop them.

"Why do you have to be so stupid?" She cries harder. "Why!"

She lays her head on his chest and can barely hear his heart beat. She can barely feel his chest rise. Standing up she goes up stairs and grabs Judith, who's awake and cooing to her. Picking her up, she takes her downstairs to get her food. When Judith sees Daryl on the floor, she bounces and starts calling for him.

"Da-da! Da-da!" She bounces until Beth can't stand the pressure. Putting her down, the little girl crawls over to her and feels his face in her pudgy little hands. "Da-da." She starts crying when he doesn't respond.

"Baby, Dada's sick." She keeps crying as Judith cries harder and plays with his beard. "Judy...please. Please..."

She needs the child to stop crying. Not cause of the noise, cause she herself can't stop crying. She just wants Daryl to be okay. She needs him to be alright, to come back to her and Judith.

"Da-da!" Beth pulls the baby into her arms and she sits against the counter and cries against the child, who cries into her neck.

They seem to cry for hours. Their tears flow faster like a waterfall and neither seem to find the bottom of the well. When it starts getting dark out, Judith finally falls asleep against Beth's chest and Beth just stays up rubbing her hand up and down Judith's back. When her left hand falls to her side, she nearly jumps out of her skin, when a rough calloused hand grabs it.

"Daryl?" She nearly starts crying again as she turns and looks down at Daryl, who is wincing in pain.

"Beth..."

"Judy, look!" The small child rubs her eyes and then widens them as she sees him.

"Da-da!" Shuffling out of Beth's grasp, the child crawls over to Daryl's face and kisses him. It amazes Beth that the baby knows he's okay.

"Hey...LilAsskicker." Daryl let's go of Beth's hand and brushes the child's cheek with a finger. He looks back up at Beth who can't hide her tears. Getting up, she grabs a bottle of water and comes back to Daryl, gently lifting his head up to hydrate him. "Thanks..."

"Why are you so stupid?" Beth sits back and holds her knees to her chest.

"We needed food...."

"Daryl, you could've died. You don't go hunting at night." She doesn't yell, but that's how you know she's really angry, when yelling stops and calm, stale voices start.

"Beth, I'm here..."

"But you might not have been...Daryl, you yell at me when I put myself in danger...buy you do the same thing. Why?" He doesn't answer right away, but looks at the ceiling.

"Cause if you lose me, it's nothing. If I love you...I am nothing." Grabbing his hand and kissing it over and over again, Beth just can't deal with this.

"Losing you would be worse than never knowing you at all. I love you too much to even think about losing you. Don't ever do this again."

"Come're." He gestures for her to lean forward, but she's shaking and crying spastically. "Baby, come're."

"I'm sorry...I jus...I jus...love you." She leans down and he kisses her several times.

"Shoooo, shooo. I love you so much. I love you baby. I got you."

"Da-da." Looking back at Judith, Beth and Daryl just smile and laugh.

"I love you too, Baby girl."

"Ma-mee!" She smiles at Beth and then she kisses Daryl on the cheek.

"Baby. You wanna go play in the living room?"

"Yeh! Da-da!"

"I'm gonna go out her in the living room. I'll come back and help you in there..."

"Beth, I got it."

"No, you stay here. Yer still in trouble for being stupid." He laughs, but he knows she's more than serious. Beth leaves with Judith in her arms and then comes back, getting on her knees an helping Daryl sit up, though he's gritting his teeth in pain. Getting him to his feet, they slowly walk to the living room an she lays him on the couch. "You need anything?"

"Yeah." He take Beth's hand and has her sit in the edge of the couch. "I need you."

"Daryl, I'm not going anywhere." She smiles and he shakes his head.

"No, I need you. Beth, I love you so much. Be mine?" Beth doesn't understand what he means. Sitting up with a struggle, he looks in her eyes and then plays with her ring finger. Finally understanding, Beth looks at him with a few tears in her eyes.

"Daryl... I love you." She kisses him and he just wants an answer. "Yes..."

"Yes?"

"Yes Daryl, I'm yours." She throws herself at him, trying not to hurt him.

They kiss and he just holds her as tight as his body will let him. Judith, who's sitting on the other side of the room, crawls over and looks at them.

"Ma-ma? Da-dee?"

"Yes baby. Yes, Judy."
