Moving to Better Places

It's been almost 5 months, Glenn would guess, since Paul was born. They've been happy in their little apartment building, now being able to use all floors, but their thirst for movement has come back since the herds have diminished and the roads seem clear. It's been instilled in them now that moving often is the way of life and even though they technically don't have to do it, they wish too. The fact of the matter is, is that they will run out of food eventually in this town. Fact is they're half way there already. So before coming to an eminent disaster, the group is packing up their things and setting their own motion North.

Glenn had found two cars with a decent amount of gas, so the task is set. Getting to the cars, that are packed to high heaven with supplies, they split to their groups. Maggie, Glenn, Carl and Michone in one car and Tyreese, Carol, Sasha, and Tara in the other.

In their car, Glenn drives, while Michone coddles Paul, who's black hair is making his green eyes pop. Carl has found a book on cars and has become fascinated with them- often texting which models came from what company while the others try to throw him off.

"Where exactly are we headed anyway?" Carl pokes his head up out of the book and questions the adults.

"I don't know...looking at the options, the spot, I think would be best to go is along Lake Erie. Fish, hard weather to keep the walkers at bay, at they probably have over 47 different hotels just in Erie. I think that's the place to go." Glenn says with hope in his voice.

"Yeah, that sounds pretty nice. I like fishing and we can teach Paul to fish when he gets older!" Carl cheers as he closes his book, now fully immersed in conversation. The 17 year old boy has been a big brother to Paul. His mind always thinking toward what he can teach him or play when the child gets older. Maggie and Glenn find it charming, but also saddened. Carl lost his baby sister-he'll never see her grow up or be able to teach her things. His whole family gone. This also makes Maggie feel sorrow. She lost her family- though she wants to have faith that Beth is out there, it's hard because there are no signs of life, besides her group. This meaning Daryl, Beth, and Judith are just as dead as the walkers.

"So how long until we get to Erie?" Michone blows on the baby boy's belly and then looks up with a smile. She misses Andre, hell she sorta misses Mike too, but she has Carl. She has Carl, even if she doesn't have Rick. They were getting closer to figuring out their complicated relationship, but once again this world doesn't care about love and compassion.

"Umm, well we will need to find gas by tomorrow, but if we keep getting lucky, we'll most likely get there in under four weeks...if not a month an a half due to weather, gas, and supplies."

"Glenn, hold on. If we map this out, we can a sure we won't go down hill fast. If we put pinpoints on each town we wanna hit and get there, we'll be great." Maggie shows him how each circles town or city on her map, falls in line. Placing his hand on her knee, Glenn smiles at her and then focuses back on the road.

In Tyreese's car, the ladies are chatting and having a good time while Tyreese is stuck in thought. He didn't really want to leave the town, the apartment building. Yeah he wanted to get out and find something to do, but to leave that town for him was like asking for the electric chair. They lost people. A lot of people. Now they're just moving on like it's nothing and not even attempting to look for Daryl, Beth, an Judith? What is that? Glenn is beginning to become their leader, but Tyreese doesn't feel this is a good idea. Yeah, Glenn's a great guy, smart, but he has a family now. And much like Rick, he'll probably only do what's best for his family and not the group.

"I wonder where Glenn's taking us? I hope it's New York City! Wouldn't that be nice?" Sasha says and the girls giggle. Carol has even become less than stiff. She's not all by the book or do what you must. She's becoming almost younger and happier, almost entirely letting what happened with Mika and Lizzie go and maybe even Sophia a little, not that she'd forget her child, but in a way that she doesn't dwell on her death.
