My last birthday was my first birthday with you

My last birthday was my first birthday with you.

I had finally been born for two decades on the longest night of the year, at least in the northern hemisphere.

I actually learned that I was born here in Korea and that we moved to Australia when I was three months old. My dad loves to tell the story of the day that I was born, or rather the night of. He remembers rushing my mom to the hospital and looking up at the night sky to notice the visibly bright halo of light around the moon.

That's what my name means: Halo.

And when we moved to Australia, my name remained fitting because while 'Ayla' mostly pertained to the halo of the moon, it could also mean the light around the sun. So, while I was born on the longest night of the year in Korea, I was also born on the longest day of the year in Australia.

So whether I celebrate my birthday lit with the sun for hours on end or it feels like a never-ending night, it has always been a special day for me.

Thank you for celebrating my last special day with us, with me.

Jimin glanced at the owner of the outstretched hand that was offering him a can of cola. He looked up to find Jungkook with a small smile grazing his lips. Jimin took the drink from his hand, just as Jungkook plopped himself on the couch beside him.

"I heard it was Joshua who insisted you were invited tonight," Jungkook remarked as they both averted their gaze towards the busy kitchen.

Junhyun had kicked the two out of his kitchen and ordered them to relax in the living room since they were the guests. Even after multiple rebuttals, the two men ended up on the couch while the three Moons finished up all the preparations for Ayla's small birthday celebration.

"Yeah," Jimin confirmed, smiling at the sight of the said boy who purposely swiped icing from the cake on his sister's nose, who then responded by cupping his face between her palms and brushed her nose on his cheek while he let out a loud squeal. "I couldn't say no to him when he asked me himself."

"After that ice-cream date you took him on a couple of weeks ago, he's said nothing but 'Jiminie-hyung this' and 'Jiminie-hyung that' whenever I talk to him. I have to admit, I'm jealous that I might be replaced as his favourite hyung."

Jimin let out a small laugh. "It's the opposite for me, actually. When he's with me, he likes to bring up topics about his fun adventures with his 'Jungkookie-hyung'. I don't think you'll be losing your place anytime soon. I'd have to bring him on many more adventures to even come close to where you are."
