Unlike many people, I wholeheartedly appreciate early mornings.

Watching the sun rise on the vast horizon, as if it had missed the sky and wanted nothing more than to warm up those blues to a splendent gold, was one of the bonuses for waking up at such ungodly hours.

Every time I witness a sunrise, the thought that each one is a miracle always comes flashing in my mind.

It reminds me of new beginnings every time I wake up. Another day to be strong and to tackle obstacles with a positive mindset. Or simply, a new chance at living life.

Maybe, such heavenly occurrence was created to remind us that even if life gets rather difficult at times, in some ways it's still beautiful.

Watching the first sunrise of the year was always something my dad placed great importance on. He made sure the entire family was awake and waiting for that first gleam of the rising sun. He said sunrises were one of the greatest gifts ever given to us.

I'm thankful I got to experience that significant moment with you, Jimin, even at least once in this lifetime.

"Are you excited?" Jimin asked Ayla as he settled on the seat beside hers.

An eager smile blossomed across her face, as she turned her head to the right towards the well-lit night view of Seoul outside the window. Though it was nearing midnight, the busyness and liveliness of the city refused to die down. Nevertheless, it was expected from the Asian city that never slept.

In addition to that fact, it was only several minutes left until the country would welcome the new year.

Ayla turned her attention back to Jimin, noticing how the other passengers were also making themselves comfortable for the more-than five hour long bus journey to Busan.

"Very," Ayla said. "I'm just surprised how you were able to convince my dad to whisk me away on New Year's Eve."

Jimin shrugged. "I've been planning this for a while now. I asked for your dad's permission a few weeks ago and when I got it, I bought the bus tickets in advance. To be honest, getting your dad to agree wasn't easy, but after several questions and. . . talks, he finally said yes."
