Wow.

After almost 2 years (with MANY breaks in between updates), we've come to the end of In Another Life.

The idea for this book came when I was writing the last few chapters of my first book. As mentioned in the Foreword, this book stemmed from an unhappy moment in my life. Covid broke out everywhere, halting everyone's life and not only were people suffering physically, but a lot were also affected mentally and emotionally. I was one of the latter.

I don't want to bore or burden you with details, but let's just say it was a dark time for me. And writing this book helped me pour out those negative emotions and thoughts into words. Words that would hopefully reach people and be appreciated by them.

Two years later, I can tell you that I'm in a much better place, with people around me that care for me and support me in the things that I do and that make me happy. So, I guess it's appropriate for me to close this 'sad chapter' of my life by ending this book.

My writing process starts with quotes or song lyrics or rough conversations between unnamed characters written in my Notes app. (Yes, I should probably start writing somewhere more secure like a Google Docs) Then at 2AM, when I'm trying to sleep, more ideas for the story comes to mind and I immediately start typing it out in case I forget in the morning. When I've gathered enough details, I start categorizing them into chapters and what happens in each one. And thus, my second baby was born.

Now, the question is, we're you able to decipher both the hidden messages in the book?

I gave away the second message in the Epilogue, but the first message was hinted more subtly.

Did you get it? I'm curious to find out, so comment if you did. ;)

The other thing I want to bring up is the change in the tenses. Notice that the notebook journals and scenes between them were written in past tense to show the perspective of Jimin reading the notebook and remembering those flashbacks. The Epilogue is written in present tense because it occurs after Jimin has read the notebook and he flies out to follow Ayla in Australia.

I mentioned this in my other book, but I will be taking an indefinite hiatus from Wattpad. There are still plot ideas brewing in my head, but I won't be publishing anything new for a while. Life has just been so busy and will continue to be busy, especially with my plans of working full time in the summer while also taking summer school so that I can study abroad next year (Australia, AHH!). I just simply need this break. I hope you understand!

Until next time! 💫
