Chapter 7: Cafeteria

Nini's POV

"Hey Guys!" Ricky said as we walked in.

"You're late!" Carlos exclaimed "And I know why..." He continued mysteriously after he saw us walking in together.

"Ricky! Nini!" EJ said "You didn't did you?"

"No, no, no" I said "Ricky just stayed over at mine"

"Yeah... Uhh... Mom and Dad again" he told them looking down at his feet.

"Oh Ricky! I'm sorry" Gina comforted him.

"Come! Let's sit down" Ashlyn said, taking a seat at a table.

"I'm joining your gang" Ricky made everyone jump.

"Ricky... You made this gang... You are already in it..." Seb said confused.

"No, no, no" He started "I'm auditioning for the musical!"

"Really?" Big Red asked "I thought we were skater dudes and not theater dudes"

"I made him join" I told them "I'm auditioning for Gabriella and he's auditioning for Troy"

"Wow! We've been trying to get him to join for a few years! He must have a soft spot for you" Kourtney told me.

"Guys! We don't know anything about Nini" Gina said, changing the subject "Tell us a bit about yourself"

"Well, ok. I am a teacher nerd and I play the ukulele and piano. I sing and that's really it" I told them.

"What about your parents?" Carlos asked.

I looked at Ricky and he nodded and whispered in my ear.

"Tell them" he whispered and nodded.

"I actually... I... Uh... Not many people know this about me because it ruined my last relationship" I stopped, thinking about Jack and how I felt when I walked into Frankie's cabin.

"Hey! You ok?" Ricky asked me.

I looked up at him "Yeah, yeah" and then I continued telling the gang "I have two moms"

"How did that ruin your relationship?" Gina asked me.

"Don't really want to talk about it"

*Ringggg*

"That's the bell!" Ricky told everyone "Who've you got your next class with Nini?"

"Let's see" I said as I took my timetable out of my bag "Tech with Gina"

"Ok, let's go" Gina told me "Bye baby" she said to EJ.

"Bye Nini" he waved to me "Bye GG, love you" he said after he kissed Gina.

"I... Uhh... I" Gina stuttered, awkwardly. Looking him in the eyes. EJ gave her a weird look and the gang were standing around nervously.

"We've got to go before we are late" I broke the silence by taking Gina's hand and going to Tech.

"Thanks Nini, that was super awkward" Gina thanked me "I'm not sure if I'm ready to say it just yet. I mean I do... You know... But... I don't know"

"Hey, hey, hey" I stopped her "As much as I would have loved to watch you embarass yourself" she laughed a bit "I don't want you to suffer heartbreak. It's not the best feeling"

She smiled at me "Thanks" I gave her a hug.

"No worries" I pulled away from the hug "Now, we better go before we are late"

Ricky's POV

"Hey EJ? You ok?" I asked EJ as Gina and Nini walked off.

"I just told her I loved her and she didn't say it back" he said worried "What is she doesn't love me?"
