"Are you alri... Omg you're bleeding!!!!" Angelina hurried over to his side and grabbed his arm supporting him to the couch.

"Do you have first-aid kit here?" Asked Angelina as she was lifting his leg on the table. The thumb nail was seriously injured.

"Yes, in my bed-side drawer. Oh and you might also need the nail clipper, it's in the bathroom cabinet."

Angelina sat near his feet on the rug, using cotton pad to clean the blood.
"This might hurt" she took the nail clipper and tried to trim off the broken part. He inhaled sharply.
"Does it hurt much?" Pete's heart skipped a beat. Her eyes were so blue, like sooooo blue, but there was something else as well. Worry? Was she worried about him?

There must be a way to get out of here

There must be a way to get rid of this

There must be a way to get out of here

She smiled

But who made the river

Deep as the ocean

Dark as the night

So blue

Yes, so blue..
His phone was ringing. He chuckled at his ringtone- perfectly complementing this trail of thoughts.
Now that the injury was neatly bandaged, he walked over, slightly limping and picked up his cell.It was Sam.

"Hello"

"Hey, I won't be coming home now. I am going to Jelly's place."

"She is here, waiting for you."

"Oh! Ok, tell her I will be there in 5 mins."

"It was Sam. She is coming home. Would you like something to eat?"

"Well, is this a thank you gift for treating your injury?" Angelina raised her perfectly shaped brows.

For some unknown reasons, Angelina was feeling a lot better now.

Maybe because of Sam's presence or maybe because of the mouth-watering, hunger-arising aroma originating from the kitchen.

"Ok, now tell me everything. What did that douche-bag do again?"

Angelina narrated everything.

"That son of a bitch, wait till I break his butt."
Angelina suddenly laughed out loudly at the idea. Sam joined her, she was innovating new weird ideas about how she could actually break his butt.

The room was filled with laughter. Pete was living alone for many years. But today, it felt like home.

Sam said "Do you even realise how much that bastard ruined your life? I heard you laugh like this after a very very long time."

Dinner was served.

Angelina punched her shoulders softly and said "let's grab some food."

Steamed rice with shakshouka. Angelina found Pete's cooking delicious. She could eat this everyday and never getting tired.

After the dinner, "Stay with me tonight" Sam suggested.

"I am sorry Sam. I have some works to complete."

"You and your work!" She rolled her eyes.

"Don't talk like my mom."

"Ok fine!" She shrugged, " Pete will give you a ride."

Angelina sat on the passanger seat. The car smelled like man cologne. It was soothing her.

"So, you're not mad at me for following you anymore, it seems" he stressed on the specific word.

She gave him a warning look. The corner of his mouth raised. Shaking his head, he grinned.

The ride was more or less quiet.

She lived on the second floor. Out of goodwill, Pete decided accompany her to her doorsteps.

She didn't object. Perhaps she was trying to make up for misbehaving in the morning or may be because he cooked such a delicious meal.

As soon as she opened the door, she was stunned. There was water everywhere in her room.

Aaron was sitting at the bar tool drinking whisky which a lady by his side. He was immersed in his own thoughts. The girl was constantly babbling about her new nail art and how Lesley was jealous of it because it was better than Lesley's.

"That bitch tried to compare her shitty tastes with mine. Huh.." all of a sudden she realised Aaron wasn't paying attention to her 'important issues'. "Why are you not responding?" She poked his arm pouting.

Aaron gulped down the whiskey in his glass and said "I have something to do." He left the bar without waiting for her.

"Did he get a side hoe?" It was the only reason she could think of.

************************************
It has been the 8th time she tried connecting to her landlord. He was still not picking up her calls. She was impatiently walking to and fro with one hand holding the cellphone , other hand was impatiently messing up with her hairs.

"Stop calling him. Do you have necessary tools?" asked Pete.

"No. Well, I don't know how to fix this. So..." Angelina was anxious.

"Shall I call a plumber?" asked Pete.

"There is no other option."

"Let's wait out."

"Ok. Ummm.. wait a moment". She opened her shoes and went it. She returned grabbing two blankets. The night was cold. She tossed one at Pete and wrapped herself in the other.

The Plumber came rather quickly.

Pete wanted to step his foot inside her apartment, when he was stopped by her.

She went in and searched for plastic, or polythene. She found one.

"Here, cover your injured feet in it. Make sure it stays away from water."

************************************
"Thank you for today" Angelina thanked Pete after the plumber left.

"It's alright. Eeeerrrrr...Just don't assume me to be a stalker next time" he joked making her smile.

Not that he likes eavesdropping, but he heard bits and pieces of their discussion back at his apartment.

She looks like an angel when she smiles...

She should do it more often.
