Pete could feel her overflowing emotions penetrating his senses. He also felt, for some unknown reasons, as if Angelina had read his mind. As if she knew her words had pained him. Honestly, Pete was now in his late twenties. He wasn't fooling around with her about his feelings. He was hurt thinking that may be he couldn't show her his sincerity. May be he has failed in earning her trust. May be, he had failed in being her support.

He knew it was extremely early to be talking about marriage. But still that hurt feeling lingered till she said she didn't want to jinx it. Her hand on his shoulder reassured him of her presence in his life. Her words reassured him that this relationship wasn't one sided, she was equally invested in it. Her looking into his eyes reminded him of how real she was.

He was happy that atleast she wasn't faking her feelings and intentions to him.

He kept his hand over her palm reassuringly. It wasn't the first time that he held those in his hands. But today it seemed more special. These hands belonged to his girl. The girl who slowly but steadily crept into his life. And the biggest mystery was he doesn't even know when he fell in love with her.

Was it the day when she passed out on the bus, or was it when she filled his house with happy chatter and laughter? Was it when he saw her in his banquet looking like a heartbroken angel, or was it when she made a simple meal for him? Was it when she mistook him for a stalker, or was it when she said it was okay for him to cry infront of her? He doesn't know the answer. All he knows was he didn't want any other guy to lay a finger on her. The day when she leaned on him seeking emotional support and narrated about every rude thing Aaron said to her downstairs, he knew one thing for sure- he wanted everyone who brings misery in her life to pay the price .

When she was like a crying poodle in his arms, he knew this was the girl he wanted to care for and protect throughout his lifetime. When he saw Aaron harassing her to the extent that she was shaking, he knew he wanted to make him disappear from her life.

That night the most unexpected thing happened in his life. He was contemplating on how to confess to her about his feelings or atleast ask her out on a date. But before he could even think out of a way, she had pulled him in a hug and professed her love for him.

Pete was on nine-th cloud that night. He wanted to kiss her then and there to show his bubbling feelings. It took him an immense amount of self restraint to not do so.

And he thanks heavens for this. Because the next thing she said, lowered his spirits to a certain level.

She said she couldn't not get physically intimate with anyone. She was traumatized. It's not that her importance in his life was just for this purpose. But, Pete had always wanted kids. He wanted to be a father. He wanted to have a complete family for once in his life.

Then again, he didn't want to worsen her condition by forcing her into anything. He could wait, wait until she gets cured. He knew he wanted to find some solution to it. So he said her they would get through this together.

They had enough time in their hand before planning for children. All he wanted for her was to get cured.

That night he thought for long. And he finally reached to a conclusion, even if her illness has no cure, he will not leave her side ever. She was the first person infront of whom he could act silly and like himself. She was the first person who made him feel how falling in love feels like. She was the first person who invoked in him the feelings of really having his own family. As for kids, if she is not cured, they can always choose to adopt.

He was on the moon when she said her illness was curable. He thanked God over and over again. He was happy that finally she could get over her trauma. He had witnessed how she gets nightmares, and how much scared she was after that. He wanted to slap himself for only thinking of his selfish desires. She wasn't even getting a good night's sleep and here he was planning his future family. That was the first time Pete felt shame on himself.

Angel, no matter what happens, I will never leave your side. I promise to protect you from every sorrow and danger coming towards you. I promise to make you feel safe and secured and love. I promise I will fight with your every single nightmare until they turn into sweet dreams. I promise to have your back in both success and failure. Love, let's grow old together.
