Pete was really happy with his restaurant. He was maintaining high standards. He doesn't want his customers to dine in once here just because it is new and then forget about it. No, never. This restaurant was his dream. A dream that he saw with both eyes wide open. A dream finally starting to come real. If his business goes on smoothly, at this rate he can easily repay his loans withing three years.
Pete was only 14 years old when their dad lost in the battle with cancer. Their mom had passed away long ago, from excessive blood loss during Sam's birth.
Sam was his precious little baby sister, five years younger than him. He never wanted her to feel the absence of their parents. They didn't come from a rich family. Their dad was a humble school teacher. He left very little behind. Cancer sucked up his savings like a vacuum cleaner.
Pete had to shoulder a lot of responsibilities from a very young age. Sam saw her brother working day in day out, along with keeping up with his studies, at a age meant to play around. Sam understood very early, her brother was her only family. She would sometimes miss her parents. Some nights she would cry for them, but she made sure to never make Pete worry about her. He already had more than enough things to take care of. Sam was his everything.
Growing up Sam never had to face 'scarcity'. Indeed, Pete was a good brother. When Pete was searching for part-time jobs, he worked at a restaurant- first as a dishwasher and then as a server. Gradually with time he started to grow interest in this industry. He finally found something he wanted to do, for his own happiness. He wanted to have his own restaurant chain.
While working as a part-timer, he slowly started gathering real life knowledge about restaurant management. So by the time he decided to pursue food service management, he already had quite the experience in it.
Pete knew what it takes to be an entrepreneur. When in university, he started building up connections with the help of professors and his professionalism. But he knew, this alone wasn't enough. He needed money. He desperately needed money. He started saving every penny possible. He would opt for public transport instead of using his car, he would sometimes survive on instant noodles.
By the time Sam was in high school, she started helping him in carrying out household expenses. She sometimes would babysit, sometimes distribute leaflets, other times do a part-time job as sales person in a clothing store. Pete was happy to see his baby sister becoming more responsible day by day. He could raise her right.
Sam was very much into sports. When their father was alive, both the siblings took coaching for taekwondo. Pete had a 3rd degree black belt in it. While Sam successfully earned her first gup red belt with black stripe.
Sam always wondered what her mother was like. She sometimes looked at the old photographs of her mom. In some photos, she was with her daddy, in some photos there was mom,dad and Pete. And guess what? She never saw her mommy sad in those pictures. But why did she never find a picture of her mom with her together?
People would say she had her mother's eyes. She felt very proud of herself when she heard it. Yes, she wanted to be like her mom. Her dad once told, her mommy was a brave journalist.
One day Sam declared ,"Daddy, I will also be like mommy." Her dad smiled and kissed on her forehead, " you will definitely be a great journalist, my princess. Just like your mom."
"Was mom a princess too?"
"She was a queen."
"Then I will also be a queen."

Tomorrow was the big day for Samantha Presley. She finally got a chance to apply at her dream newspaper- The Daily Gazette. It was the same newspaper her mother used to work for.
"I need you here. I don't even know what to wear for the interview. O god, my hands are freezing! What if I mess up? What if I get tongue tied? What.."
"Sam." Angelina said cutting her in.
"Yes?"
"Just relax. You will do fine. Trust me."
" I can't. I am too nervous. Jelly? Can I ask for something?"
"Ofcourse, what is it?"
"Can you stay with me tonight?" Sam pleaded. "Please?"
