It was almost evening by the time they finished covering the Derby match and the press conference after it. Sam was starving.
"Let's go and grab something before returning back. I am dieing of hunger." Sam whinned holding onto David's arms.
"What do you want to eat? Hop on!" David directed towards the backseat with his thumb.
Samantha sat behind him, happy thinking this is the first time they will have lunch together- just the two of them. She grinned and held him.
"How about some burgers?" Sam suggested. She knew him way too well.
David immediately agreed to the plan. How could he refuse burgers? That would be an unforgivable sin! He ain't gonna commit it. After 10 mins their bike stopped infront of a McDonald's.
They ordered their favourite- big MC burgers. He opened his mouth wide and took a large bite. His mouth was instantly filled with deliciousness. He closed his eyes savouring the taste and flavour to his heart's content. After they finished eating, he burped, making Sam giggle.
Sam loved how at ease David was around her. He would never think about unnecessary reserved behaviours infront of her. She was so glad that he was atleast comfortable with her.
"Did you know that your best friend is dating?" Sam asked while leaving their seat.
"WHAT???!!!"
"Ssssshhhhh!! why are you shouting? Eh??? Hehehehehehhe!!!"
"Why are you laug-" Sam's thumb had wiped off something from the corner of his lips. He stiffened as a tingling sensation spread across his entire body like wildfire, starting from the point of contact to every direction.
" Such a smol bean." She pinched his chubby round cheeks while walking out of the building. " Sometime's I just want to kidnap you and keep somewhere safe.. Hahahahahaha!! Ouch!! Aaaaah!! It hurts."
David had smacked her forehead to avoid his embarrassment. But he almost immediately regretted seeing her face scrunched up in pain.
He gentle cupped her face in order to observe the reddened area carefully. Sam's heart was threatening to explode from her ribs any moment now. She forgot how to blink, she forgot how to breath, her system stopped working. His face was so, so close to hers. She would kiss him if he wanted now.
" I am so sorry, Bambi. I didn't mean to hurt you." She sensed concern and regret in his voice.
Bambi... How long had it been since he last called her that- Sam couldn't figure out.
David was hurt. He almost wanted to dig up a grave for himself. How could he hurt her? Is this how he keeps his words?
David's sight drifted towards her slightly parted full pink lips. It still attracted him like a magnet after all those years. How hard had he tried to avoid his feelings, but all his efforts apparently went in vain. "For God's sake, she is Pete's sister. She is off limits, you idiot" - David tried to argue with his own heart.
"Move aside from the door and continue with your romance. You are blocking the entrance." A middle aged lady spoke from behind.
David pulled his hands away from her cheeks as they stepped aside.
- " Sorry"
- " Sorry"
They both spoke at the same time. The lady smiled and said " You are quite synchronised! Not bad!"
Sam saw David's ears turning atleast 15 shades of red. She smirked.
"Let's go back home." he said.
