Silver landed on the ground near the fountain, which was still being repaired from his last battle with (Y/n). He'd been taking care of some business in another city when the locals had called for his help. Now he was ready to settle down and sleep for an eternity.

So he trudged down the street towards his residence, ears drooping in exhaustion. He just couldn't take any more right now. He still wondered if Sonic had ever felt that way - to the point where he just wanted to sit down and fall asleep on the spot, or in the blue blur's case, eat a whole plate of chilli dogs.

He heard a soft shuffling noise in an alley as he passed it and glanced towards it wearily. He wasn't in the mood for a fight, so if it was (Y/n), she would be sorely disappointed.

It wasn't.

"Silver the Hedgehog, right?" a female Mobian asked. She looked a bit like a fox, reminding Silver of someone he'd met in the past. He was instantly suspicious.

"Yeah," he said slowly, straightening his stance.

"Great! It's an honor to finally meet you." Something about the way she said it, or the way her mouth quirked up slightly set Silver on edge and his hands started glowing.

"Who are you and what do you want?" he demanded.

"I've wanted to talk to you for a long time now," she said, placing a hand on her hip. Silver narrowed his eyes. Something was off with her. "Just my luck I caught you alone. Do you often fly around at twilight? It's beautiful." Silver didn't reply. "Oh, come on. Must be nice, knowing that you are all powerful, can do anything."

"Get to the point," Silver snapped. "If you want something from me, go ahead and say it!" His patience was dwindling, but the fox didn't seem to mind. In fact, it only seemed to make her more contemptuous.

"You can hold up cities, Silver," she said softly. "But when it comes to the details, sometimes, you just skim over them." She shrugged. "I guess you can't be everyone's hero."

"What are you talking about?"

"You may be beloved by most of the city, but there are those who hate you. I see that your nemesis, the other telekinetic, took it to the next level." The fox took a step closer and Silver lifted his hands threateningly. She wasn't fazed. "But she's still soft. She lets you live, even when she has you pinned down. Like when you were holding up all those buildings. She could have ended you."

"What are you saying?" Silver growled.

"I'm saying that even though she is your nemesis, a villain worthy of the history books, she doesn't know when or how to finish the job." The fox's left hand went behind her back. "But we do."

"'We'?" Silver suddenly whirled around, a shield going up around him as a round of bullets came his way. He sent them skyward and lifted off the ground, assessing his situation.

"Don't try and fly away," the fox said, pulling out her own gun. "Even the sky can't protect you now."

Silver glanced up, barely sinking just enough to avoid a round from shooters in the rooftops. He gained altitude, but he knew the fox was right. The only way to get out of this was to push through. "You're too tired," the fox called up to him. "You can't take us all on. Not without severe casualties, anyway." She cocked her gun and pointed it lazily up at him. "And you're too kind for that."

Silver gritted his teeth and lifted a cluster of his attackers off their feet, throwing them at the ones in the rooftops. They simply crashed on the roof, the other shooters, popping back up and taking another shot. Silver rolled through the air to avoid them and stopped their fire, carefully sending it back at them. The bullets grazed several of the ones that were too slow to move out of the way.

The ivory hedgehog turned quickly to stop some that came from his other side, but the ones on the ground started shooting at the same time and he was forced to back up and lose his altitude. The fox pointed her gun at him, albeit without his knowledge, and shot. It was a muffled noise and Silver turned around just in time for the shot to be buried in his left shoulder. He cried out and sank several more feet, his shield disintegrating and leaving him prone to other shots, which were taken. He lifted his head and deflected a few, but others hit him and sent him crashing to the ground.

"That was pretty sad," the fox said, walking over and bending down beside him. She unlatched a vial from under her wrist and uncapped it, roughly grabbing Silver's chin and forcing his mouth open. "But it's finally time for your reign to end, and a new era to start." She dumped the vial's contents into his mouth, despite his struggling, and patted his cheek. "Thank you for all your service, but it's no longer needed. I hereby discharge you from duty." She then stood up and shattered the vial on the ground. "Goodbye, Silver."

And then they were gone, melting into the shadows without a sound. Silver lay there on the ground, stunned and aching, before pushing himself up. He needed someplace to recuperate, to heal, but he didn't know exactly where to go. The world was growing fuzzy around him as he swayed on his feet, some of his white fur stained red.

Then, without really thinking, he forced himself to lift off the ground and fly sloppily to the first place he could think of.

(Y/n) spun the knife in her hand, staring at the shattered plates all around the room. "I should learn how to make those," she whispered as she opened her cabinet and looked at the measly two she had left. She'd spent the last hour throwing the knife at plates she'd tossed up for entertainment, without using her telekinesis. A headache was coming on now.

She yelped and threw the knife up into the ceiling when someone knocked on the door. She quickly flew up, grabbed the knife and slapped it onto the counter, and ran over to the door. She peered suspiciously through her peephole - no one ever visited her - eyes widening when she realized who it was.

The (a/t) opened the door. Silver stood in front of her, shivering, bleeding, scared. There was a slightly dazed look in his eyes - he was drugged. Looking up at her, swaying slightly as he was close to passing out, he mumbled, "...didn't know where else to go..." and collapsed into her arms.
