The Voice was Right

Cammy's P.o.V.

After Levi had shadow traveled on Mrs. O'Leary, Nico asked if I was ready. Obviously I did not want to experience monsters, nor did I want to be eaten. I don't need to know how it feels in order to be terrified. I nodded and took his hand. I probably would have been embarrassed, but I wanted to know that this was real. I needed to know that Nico was real. My grip tightened. Nico did the same.

He sighed. "Alright, after this I will probably black out, but...please-"

"I promise I won't draw you a moustache or write loser on your forehead." I whispered. "I'll be nice just this once." He wore an uncertain expression. "Deal?"

It felt like forever, but he finally managed to say, "Fine, deal."

I grinned weakly. He closed his eyes, and before I even knew it, we had dissipated until we were nothing more than the shadows.

One word to explain shadow traveling: Thrilling. My whole body felt numb as I was surrounded by a cold blast of wind. I tried using my voice to call it quits, but it faltered. Suddenly, I couldn't feel Nico's hand any longer, but I still felt his presence. That somewhat reassured me. I didn't bother to cry out for Nico, since it would just be hopeless.

To pass the time, I closed my eyes and hugged my legs. I buried my face in my thighs. I felt like when I was hiding from my foster parents. Alone, Trapped, and Dead. That just made my stomach do a backflip and end in a split. Just thinking about it....

The next second I found myself hurtling towards the surface of the earth. I cried out, desperately grabbing at the atmosphere. Then I bumped into something....Nico.

"NICOOOOOOOooooo!" I yelled, clutching him tightly. We continued to free fall. I began to sob on Nico's chest. "I'm sorrrrrryyy Nicooooooo! If I had just left you and Levi alone, none of this would have happened and-"

As I continued to sob, out of nowhere, a voice spoke in my mind, "-and we would have never met or you wouldn't know the truth about yourself."

The voice was right.

Nico was right.
