My Dread Turns to Rage

Emma's P.o.V.

The leaves raked across the hills, swirling up and down forming dust devils. A sweet smell of strawberries and pine mixed, though how they smelled good together, I have no clue. A warm breeze shot through camp, then followed another.

I flipped the page of Eternal (A/N: Yeah, it's a real book. My mum bought it for me) and felt a sudden urge of fear. Something in the atmosphere changed, you could feel the temperature drop 20 degrees. A tugging sensation formed in my stomach as I lurched forward. I moaned and doubled over, then someone put a hand on my shoulder.

"Whoa, what's up with you all of a-" the voice said.

"Someone....," I said through gritted teeth.

"Excuse me?"

I faced the person; my half brother Malcolm. "A Cyclops!"

Malcolm paled. "U-um, Em, you're starting to sound like that show off."

"Cammy!" I snapped.

"Whatever, just tell me what's going on."

I looked down and pushed up my glasses. I have no clue what the Hades is happening. Malcolm's right. I was starting to sound like the daughter of Apollo. Bursting nonsense out of thin air. Only the things she says come true.....

Who's not to say I am wrong?

To prove my point, there was a mighty roar that rumbled across the valley. Following that was a blood-chilling cry for help.

In the corner of my eye, I saw Connor Stoll burst through his cabin door. He had a panicked look in his eye.

"CAMMY!" He shrieked.

I don't know why, but I felt protective of her. Yeah she was annoying, but she was so curious and brave.

I was shaken out of my thoughts when a tremendous thump came from the forest. No more screams. No more roars. Silence.

Guilt swelled inside. Something had happened to Cammy and I was just standing here like a fool.

My dread turned to rage. I quickly grabbed my javelin and raced off towards the unknown.
