There isn't much to say in this part's epilogue. Nothing in this one really truly surprised me or stood out to me, but it did end up being the most fun one to carry out. Hoseok and I, at one point while establishing what I would put inside of here, had actually gotten to chat with Ruyoung himself over the phone about all the things that happened and their friendship over time as Hoseok had never really mentioned anything about him to any of us until then. The two of them were still very close, catching up with each other whenever possible and asking each other questions about what's going on on their lives. It made me happy to know that he had someone outside of us here that he could talk to.
Ruyoung, after everything that happened, had grown to follow in his father's footsteps. He became a doctor—more specifically a neurologist—and he was a pretty successful one, too, having taken part in various momentous studies. I laughed a lot when I figured that out, having found his choice of career pretty ironic considering everything that had happened with him and Hoseok. He laughed right along with me after I made this point, telling me that that had actually become one of their inside jokes.
"I had asked him as a joke after I figured out that he became a neurologist if there would've been any way to undo his memory loss without my help," Hoseok explained to me through our laughing. "All he told me that you would've had to have some unbearably strong medication and hope for a miracle."
His laugh slowed, but a gentle smile still remained on his face.
"Ruyoungie has said to me multiple times that in his case, he only needed a miracle. 'That was you, Hobi-ah,' he'd said. 'You were the miracle.'"
I would never forget the moment when he told that to me.
Hoseok's philosophy of hope continued to fuel him through his life, and it kept him happy, despite the rough times that he may have had to go through. His Day of Hope, when he first told us of its origin, touched us. We vowed to him that we would celebrate it with him every year afterward. The day him and I finished talking about everything actually ended up being the day before January 10, so that evening was the time when he'd told everyone about him and his past. His specialty wasn't too much of a surprise to any of us. He'd expressed it so freely that when we'd first figured out about our similarity, we all basically knew what his was already.
Without a doubt in our minds, Hoseok's happiness and his constant reminders for us to keep our heads up have gotten us all through our own tough times together, even while we had no idea of the reason behind these reminders. He still does this today, maybe even more than before. We are all so grateful that he is with us. Without him and his energy, we can't get through anything. Without him, none of us are ourselves. I'm sure you yourself most certainly feel this same way about him, too.
Ruyoung was right. Hoseok wasn't just a miracle for him; he was a miracle for all of us.
He's our hope.
