With my blessing, Cynthia has forgiven Jamie for what she did.
I haven't forgiven her yet, or Allison Clearview. Sure, my feelings don't affect Clearview since we don't interact at all. Perhaps I should change that. Maybe I should hex her and make her think twice next time she thinks of stealing my most treasured possessions.
Before Charms class when I make sure the teacher is gone, I get Cassia to help me jinx Allison's chair.
She screamed too loud for my taste. That's all I'm saying.
Cassia took the blame for me, since she is older. I was very grateful, and to prove it, I snuck her a few pastries while she was cleaning the desks.
When I told Blair and Cynthia, Blair giggled but Cynthia was less favorable, muttering about how vindictive and nasty we could get. When asked to speak up, she only glared and left the room.
"Come on," Blair called. "Are you seriously on Clearview's side?"
Cynthia got over it in only a couple of hours, but we didn't show any remorse for Clearview's disturbance.
Somehow word got out that Clearview and Jamie worked together to steal my ring. To this day, I don't know how people found out- or why they cared.
Jamie's and Clearview's backs quickly became targets for anyone looking for trouble, and it wasn't even that big a deal. Yeah, it sucked and it kinda hurts that she would do such a thing, but she doesn't need to be bullied. I can get revenge if I wanted.
Oh, whatever. I never did like them anyway. It's not like I'm going to go out of my way to save their arses. Blair, Cassia, and even Severus seem to agree, but, like I predicted, Cynthia feels different.
She's had to pull so many teasing students away from Jamie, and ever since so, she seems to be on edge. Especially with Cassia. Sometimes she will come and sit down, only to bark at Cassia when she starts to talk. We get it, Jamie's her friend, but Cassia isn't even the one at fault here. Did she steal my ring? No.
Cynthia has even had a row at me the other day. She was eventually shot down by an ever-so-calm Cassia and a seething Blair. Of course, we quickly forgave her and she seemed to be better after that.
Today, everything seemed to go back to normal - the bullying had come to an end, or so I thought.
I take a stroll down to the dungeons for a peculiar question to Mister Horace Slughorn, but on my way, I catch sight of Jamie, too. As my usual response to seeing her, I scoff, hold my nose high, and walk on.
I don't notice anything weird until I hear the booming voice of a much older student, who's House is unidentified for now. They say, "I heard you and Clearview haven't been right nice to (L/N). This so?"
"No, I have no idea what you mean, Martha."
I know what this is. It's been going on for weeks now, can't they let it off? I have the ring back - there's no way she could have kept it for any longer anyway. I would have found out eventually.
I stop walking so I can make sure the teasing stays calm.
Martha speaks again, laughing. "You know I'm only joking with ya, Moore." I roll my eyes at the nervous chuckles Jamie gives, but Martha isn't finished. "I've heard stories of some of the girls who watched you take that ring."
