November 9-10 (Friday and Saturday)
My mother signed the Hogsmeade permission slip and sent it back early morning on Friday.
Blair and Cynthia are going, but Severus can't, unfortunately. His parents never did sign his permission slip. I wish I could have faked one, but that would be hard. Our professors aren't stupid enough to fall for that.
Evan hasn't told me if he can go or not, but I'm really hoping he can. Luckily for me, I know his friends will all (well, mostly) be serving detentions while the rest of us go to the village that never stops snowing apparently.
I can hardly wait to go. This will be my first.
Later this same day, Evan comes to me and I mentally cross my fingers.
"So, can you go?" I'm hopping on the balls of my feet. He pulls a long face and I stop hopping to stare at him in disappointment. "Is that a no?"
His frown turns to a smirk and he says, "I can go. Haven't gotten detention or anything, lucky you."
"Oh my god," I say but I'm smiling in relief. "Will your buddies be going with you?"
He looks around, as if they'll magically appear. "Avery's the only one who can go. He and I were in the baths while the other boys thought it was a good idea to pick on some first year when a teacher was looking. We heard the yelling from where we were." He screws up his nose, causing me to giggle. "It wasn't pretty."
"In any case, I'd say they did me a favor," I reply.
"Why?" He tweaks my nose and I push him away indignantly. "Because it's so much easier to hang on me when they aren't around?"
"Not exactly." I hold up my chin. "Besides, Avery will be there."
He cups my face and I stare in shock. "Avery's one of the more... tolerant friends. He'll allow anything, really." Our faces are much closer than I'm accustomed too and I forget his words immediately.
"Uh, yeah." He lets me go, seeming surprised by his own actions. "Hey, Belle?"
"Rose?"
"Wanna hang out tomorrow? At Hogsmeade?"
I don't let on a grin, but I can feel it. "Of course."

Blair thinks he asked me on a date, and Cynthia disagrees.Right now, it's night, and Blair literally snuck into our common room. Cynthia and I both reprimanded her when she got in. If she gets caught, there will be no Hogsmeade trip for her tomorrow. She couldn't care less, so we dropped it.
"It's definitely a date, Cyn," Blair assures, sweeping her thick hair out of her face.
"It's not. He wanted to hang out, not go on a date," Cynthia says. "Arabelle wouldn't think of dating a Death Eater, right?"
Before I can answer, Blair scowls. "That means August didn't really ask for you to go on a date with him."
"He asked you out?!" I exclaim. They shush me and Cynthia smiles, now giddy.
"We're going to the Three Broomsticks for a date."
"Not for a date," Blair corrects. "Just to hang out. Like Arabelle."
I want to agree with Cynthia on this one. Evan did not ask me to go on a date with him, and I can't really say about August. "Come on, Blair, it's not a date."
