The next day, Y/N was getting water from the fountains shaped like trumpets. Walking over to her table, she sees her mom standing at Mitchie's table talking with her and her 'friends'. Knowing Mitchie will lie about not knowing their mom, Y/N quickly sets her drink down and leaves the mess hall, knowing her mom will want to meet her friends, she would have came over to Y/N's table next. The one thing she will not do for Mitchie is pretend she doesn't know her mom when she talks to her and her friends.

Not looking where she was going, Y/N trips over a tree branch that was sticking out of the ground. Waiting for her butt to meet the ground, she was grabbed around the waist by strong arms. Looking through her lashes she was shocked to see Shane staring back at her.

Snapping out her daze, Y/N pulled her self out of his arms, immediately feeling cold after. Shaking off the weird feeling in her chest, she looked at him.

"Thank you for catching me. I can be real clumsy sometimes."

When she received no response from Shane, she looked up to find him staring at her with an expression she couldn't quite figure out. Waving a hand in front of his face he quickly snapped out of his dazed state.

"I'm sorry. Did you say something?"

"Yeah, I thanked you for catching me and saving me from one of my clumsy moments."

He nodded in understanding. "You're welcome. I'm Shane." He stretched out his towards her.

She shook his hand with hers. "Y/N."

"Nice to meet you Y/N."

"You too Shane." Y/N glanced down at her watch noticing she is going to be late for her next activity class.

"Oh," she exclaimed. "I have to go or else I'll be late for my next class."

Nodding, Shane gestured for her to go. "Well you don't want to be late."

"Thank you again for catching me. See you later Shane." Y/N ran off to her class, leaving Shane to stare after her, wanting to know everything about the dirty blonde haired girl.

Y/N and Mitchie are working in the kitchen, preparing dinner for the campers later. Connie is in the back pouring juice into jugs.

When she finished, she turned to face her daughters. "So, your friends, Mitchie, they-they seem nice."

Y/N snorts a littles knowing how wrong that statement was. She stopped upon seeing the frown on her mom's face.

"Tess is...interesting." Connie continues turning to face her oldest again.

"I know, but," Mitchie pauses, trying to find how to phrase it, "she's better once you get to know her."

Making a face at Mitchie's answer, Y/N picks up the tray of potato wedges she finished salting. She brings the tray over to another counter with the other potato wedges.

"Yeah," Connie comments, "Um, have-have you gotten to know her?"

"Yeah, I guess." Mitchie answers, not understanding why her mom is asking so many questions regarding Tess.

"I don't know. She doesn't seem like she's your type. You've always been so-"

"Invisible." Mitchie finishes.

Connie turns to look at her, shocked she would say that. "I was going to say independent."

Mitchie gives her a incredulous look.
