As I lay in bed, all night, I am getting more and more worried about Uncle J. Where has he gone?
My train of thought is quickly interrupted my sudden footsteps upstairs. Yay! I guess I wasn't the only one that's been up all night, because in about 30 seconds half of the pack is up.
A man starts up the stairs. He is immedietly pushed down the stairs. He sits up. "It's not him. The Hunters are up there! They have him!" he screams. People know what to do.
They grab a handful if extra food, and a cup of water. Not me. Em grabbed blankets, I grabbed a tent. We each to a bucket of something else. Me food, her water. We had plotted this earlier tonight.
We are going to rescue my uncle. No one, not even the pack or the Hunters are going to stop us. We go out the emergency exit, stumbling under the weight of our supplies.
The pack goes right. And we start straigh ahead. Our walk quickens into running. We run until we find the cave we were in yesterday. We are going to camp out there for the rest of the night. We go as far back as the cave allows. We don't set up the tent, because it's pitch black.
We get in the sleeping bags, and lay quiet and still for about a half an hour. Then Em sits up. "I'm scared." she manages. "Me too." I reply. More silence. We lay there for about 20 minutes. Then I sit up. "I'm cold." is what I decide to say. She manages a weak "Me too." Then more silence.
Eventually we drift off to sleep. At least I know I do. I couldn't see well enough to know if Em did. I don't remember my dreams. I can imagen that they were not all that pleasent. I consider myself lucky not to remember.
I am awoken in the morning by footsteps. I should say the soft padding of werewolf paws. And I can tell they do not belong to my pack. I hold my breath as they get closer.
