Christmas Chapter:
Evan's POV:
"Auntie Ev an Uncle Aussy?" I was suddenly stirred awake by a little voice coming out of the darkness and a tug on the comforter I was wrapped in.
"Mmm" I groaned, rolling away from Austin and to the side of the bed, catching the clock that said 4:32 AM on it. I flicked my bed side lamp on and it illuminated the little freckled face standing next to me. His bright red hair sticking up in every direction. "You okay Aiden?" I asked softly, rubbing my eyes.
"I had a bad dream." He mumbled, his eyes low and sad.
"Come here sweetie." I sighed, pulling him into my arms as he climbed into our bed.
Aiden had been staying with us for the past two weeks while Angel and Alan were away on their honey moon. They finally got married and it was a grand and beautiful event just as Angel had always dreamt of and they went to Paris for their honey moon. I loved keeping an eye on Alan's Instagram because he took so many beautiful city and landscape shots of where ever he went and this trip was no exception, it looked so breath-takingly beautiful there. Now Austin and I were on baby sitting duty and loving every minute with this ball of energy.. Well.. Every moment of the day..
"Aiden? You okay?" I heard Austin mumble, finally waking up and noticing the toddler between us.
"He had a bad dream." I explained. At that moment I heard our bedroom door squeak open and we looked up to see Estelle standing in the doorway.
"Hey princess, you can't sleep either?" Austin asked softly. A smile touching his lips as he looked down at her. She nodded her head and ran across the room, flinging herself onto his lap and curling up in his arms. "Oof you tackled me!" He said dramatically, lifting her up in the air as he fell back in bed and making her squeal with happiness. They both giggled as they settled in under the blanket and she curled up on his chest. "I love you daddy." She mumbled into his neck sweetly.
"I love you too baby." He said, pecking her on the forehead and making her smile ear to ear. "And I love you too Aiden." He added chuckling as he spotted the pouty little boy on my lap. His face instantly lit up and I laughed, ruffling his hair and kissing him on the head.
"Don't worry sweetie, your mom and dad will be back today." I said.
"Yeah and he can get out of my room!" Estelle huffed, making Austin laugh.
"You're gonna miss me!" Aiden exclaimed back making us all laugh.
"Alright you two, you can stay here but we gotta sleep." Austin said.
"Alright.." They sighed, relenting and laying down between us to sleep.
"I can't wait to be an only child again.." I heard Estelle sigh which made me laugh.
'oh boy...' I thought.
----------------------------
"Where's my baby boy!?" We were awoken again to the sound of our front door flying open and Angel screaming into our apartment. This time it was around 10 at least.
"Mommy!" Aiden screamed. Frantically throwing the blanket over us around as he tried to scramble up and out of the bed quickly. I moaned as I got kicked in the side and run over by the over excited 3 year old.
"Lock the door." Estelle moaned once he was gone.
"Be nice." I heard Austin growl, finally turning over and showing he was awake. Slowly we all got out of bed, Estelle is Austin's arms, and we walked out to the living room to meet them.
A beaming Angel was crouched on the floor hugging her son to death while a proud and happy Alan stood above them grinning down.
"Good morning guys, hope your travel home went well." I said. Angel stood up and gave me a big bear hug followed by Alan and they hugged Austin too before Alan finally relented to Aiden wanting to be picked up and carried like Estelle.
"Traveling was just fine. Usually I hate flying but it all went smoothly this time around and we had a wonderful time, oh Evan you need to go sometime, it's so beautiful you would've loved it!" Angel gushed.
"I'm glad you all had a good time." I smiled back, "but I'm also glad your home 'cause Aiden missed you a lot."
"Aww baby." Angel cooed, walking over to Alan and taking the boy from his arms and holding him close. "I missed you too." She murmured, almost teary eyed as she kissed his forehead.
"Christmas is in a couple days champ, you excited for Santa?" Alan asked Aiden. Aiden furiously nodded his head up and down and grinned widely reminding me a lot of his dad.
"What do you want him to bring you?" Angel asked as they made their way to the couch to sit down. I joined them and Estelle and Austin sat in the arm chair.
"Well I already got what I wanted for Christmas, I just wanted you to come home." He said adorably.
"Aww baby!" Angel gushed as he made her heart melt. He was very good at it and I think he was actually proud of his ability. "Well I'm home now and I'll be here with you for a very long time to come, there's no travel plans anytime soon." She reassured him, earning another huge grin. "I actually brought you all some presents, I almost forgot, they're in our apartment!" Angel exclaimed to us. The kids lit up immediately. "Estelle, Aiden, let's go get them!" She said jumping up and the kids dutifully followed her out the door. I smiled after them but when I looked around at both boys they looked exhausted.
"You okay?" I asked Austin, getting up and sitting on his lap. I took his face in my hands and kissed him softly for a moment before pulling away.
"Yeah, I'm just tired." He whispered, smiling up at me. "Happy, just tired." He sighed.
"I gotta thank you for taking care of Aiden though guys, I know he's a little ball of energy and can be a handful sometimes." He chuckled.
"You're welcome, it was no problem really. He looks and acts like his dad and has the energy of his mom." I said turning to him and chuckling back. Austin nodded and smiled in agreement. "Though now that you're back I'd really appreciate if you could take a shift of both of them at your place for a little bit sometime soon. I need to talk to Austin about something alone." Austin suddenly looked up at me with worry. "Don't worry, it's nothing bad." I chuckled.
"No problem, just let us know when." He smiled. "We can do it later if you want, I just need some time to get settled back in and rest." He yawned.
Suddenly the door burst open again as the kids came running in with their packages in hand. Angel came in swiftly behind them carrying two more.
"Special delivery!" She announced, handing a wrapped package to me then Austin.
"Aww thanks Angel!" I said, slowly ripping a line down the side of mine. Austin just grabbed at the top of his and started ripping it up all over the place like Estelle and making me laugh. I popped open the lid of my box to find a shot glass that said "mommy's sippy cup" on it and a cute tan scarf with Eiffel Towers printed all over it. "Yes, so true." I said, holding up the shot glass and making Angel laugh. "And I love this, it even matches my outfit today so I can wear it!" I smiled.
"You're welcome, I'm glad you like it." She said. We heard an ear piercing cry from the floor that made us all jump and as we looked down we saw Estelle holding a Tinker Bell doll.
"TINKER BELL!!" She screamed, this time making Aiden jump and look at her like she was mental.
"What do you say Estelle?" I asked.
"Thanks auntie Angel and uncle Ally!" She cried, hugging it close and making us laugh.
Aiden had pulled a little wooden toy train out if his box and he was completely enamored with it and pushing it in circles on the carpet.
"Aiden do you like it?" Alan asked, his arm now around Angel as she leaned into his chest. At first he didn't noticed but then his head snapped up.
"Huh? What?"
"Do you like it?" Alan asked laughing.
"Uh huh." He nodded so furiously he bounced up and down. He was honestly so adorable.
"So I know it's really late in the season but I wanted to wait until you all got home to put up the Christmas tre-"
"Do we finally get to decorate the tree!?" Estelle asked.
"Geez, it's just a tree..." Aiden mumbled, now crawling across the living room floor, guiding his train to explore.
"Can we get a real one!?" She asked, now visibly vibrating with excitement.
"Um.." I looked worriedly at Austin as he looked at me the same "I've never had a real tree, are they easy to care for?" I whispered so only he could hear, his response was a confused shrug.
"Pleasezzzz" I heard her whine. "Daddy it would be so fun!" I looked at him with a side ways 'don't-you-dare-give-into-her' glance.
"Well I don't see why not, we've never done it before so it could be fun." He shrugged. "I'll look up somewhere to get them from, go get ready sweetie."
"YESSS!" She cried, jumping up and running to her room, dragging Tinker Bell by her arm. As soon as she was out of sight I turned and glared at Austin.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't help it." He said.
"You spoil her so much!" I sighed in annoyance, rolling my eyes and flopping back into the couch with a grunt. "You better look up how to care for a real tree too 'cause that's your new baby now, I'm not dealing with it." I said.
"I'll take care of everything, don't worry about it. Do you guys wanna go shopping for more ornaments while we look for trees? Our tree was kinda bare last year so we're gonna need to get more." He asked.
"Angel, you game?" I asked.
"For shopping? Heck yeah! When am I ever not!?" She asked excitedly. It was funny how having kids had changed us. You'd never hear any of us actually curse anymore, it was always play curse words.
"Okay. Angel and I are on ornaments, you on tree." I said, laying out the plan,
"Aiden and I will go in on the trees, we should get one for our apartment too Ang." Alan said.
"Okay, BUT get a small one." Angel warned.
"That's true, make sure it'll fit in the living room Austin." I reminded him.
"I will, I will. I'll measure the wall before we go." He reassured me.
