As promised, Mr. Carlile had read out everyone's notes. I knew what me and Kellin wrote, I wrote I have anxiety attacks every morning before school and Kellin wrote I cry myself to sleep. He'd showed me before Mr. Carlile took them, he'd never told me about that before. I decided that from now on, I was going to text him a really cheesy joke before I fell asleep at night. I didn't want my friend crying himself to sleep every night, although, I'd been doing the same, with the exception of last night, and the night we saw Green day. But that wasn't the point, so, I was going to do it, at least then I knew he at least cracked a small smile before going to sleep.
There was loads in there, there as a couple who admitted to suffering from depression, someone admitted to being beaten by their father, there was a couple who admitted bullying made them feel better about themselves, some said they just wanted to survive high school. But he was right, deep down, we where all the same, we all shared battles, scars, we all had our demons. I hoped his exercise worked, but, this was high school, so I doubted that.
"Ah, there you two are, come in." Mr. Carlile smiled. "Psst, I'm not supposed to but..." He pulled out a pizza from under his desk. "Help yourselves."
Me and Kellin looked at each other with a smile, it was just a plain pizza, but hey, it was pizza! Who didn't love pizza. "Thank you Mr. Carlile." I smiled.
"Again, while we're in this room you can call me Austin." He smiled and pulled on a t-shirt...a slipknot one. "In this room, I am just like you."
"Slipknot's pretty awesome." Kellin nodded.
"Oh yes, yes they are." He smiled taking a bite of pizza. I had to say, Mr. Carlile had some strange ways of interacting with students, but they where pretty cool. I guess it helped he was quite young, he looked around twenty one, maybe. "So, tell me, what's happened since first period?"
"J-just the usual..." I mumbled. "Name calling, pushing, shoving."
"Yeah, same for me."
"I really wish you boy would let me report it...but I get it, I've been there. I was you one upon time, you'd think, given how tall I am, people would of ran from me, but nope. I was the kid beaten black and blue on the floor not too long ago, so I do understand what it's like. That's why I make this room a safe room. Look, I'm starting a support group, it'll run on Wednesdays, in here, after school for an hour, you two should come. There will be about fivw other students, who are going through similar in other years, for different reasons, but bullying is bullying, depression is depression. So I think it would be good for you two to come along, I know knowing other people feel the same can be a help sometimes. I've seen a difference in Kellin since you two became friends, a good difference."
"Really?" I looked over to Kellin.
"Yeah, uh, I'm not cutting as much, in fact I only have once, and I just feel less, alone. Like you said, it's better going through the shit with someone." He blushed, embarresed at his confession.
"Yeah." I nodded, he was right, when we where together, it was more bareable, in a sense, it's just when we weren't...
"So, will you two come?" We both nodded, may as well give it ago I guess. "Excellent, the first one will be tomorrow, just come here, I'll give you a pass to get out of last period five minutes early, so you can get here in peace. I'm also going to be having a meeting with the teachers on Friday, I've found too many teachers are turning a blind eye, and this school does nothing about bullying and I plan on changing that whatever way I can. You kids shouldn't have to suffer like you do, it's not right. I can't promise it'll make a change, but I will try."
"Thanks Mr...Austin." I gave him a small smile.
"Don't mention it, I became a guidance counsellor for a reason." He gave us a smile. "Now eat up the pizza, it won't eat it's self...if it did...well, that would just be, well, weird." All three of us laughed and carried on eating pizza and we just started talking about random things.
It was coming towards the end of class when I got a text.
Matt: Can you meet me in the toilets? The same one's we where in Monday?
Me: Uh, I'm in Mr. Carlile's office, I'll try and get out.

"You alright Lex?" Kellin looked up at me.
"Yeah, just mum saying dad was picking me up today." It was true, in a sense, it was dad picking me up today.
"Ahh cool, would it still be ok to get a lift?"
"Of course." I nodded, "I already told them both this morning you'd need a lift."
"Awesome."
"Uh, I need to go to the toilet before class and I want to go in peace before people start making their way to class, but I'll, uh, see you in last period ok Kel?"
"Sure." He nodded.
"Thanks for the pizza Austin."
"Of course." He smiled. "I'm here if you need me."
"Thanks." I grabbed my bag and headed towards what, Matt had explained to me where called the 'hook up' toilets, so they where a 'safe place' most of the time. They where only really used during class times, kind of disgusting if you ask me.
