"Baby, just come with me, please!" Matt tugged on my arm.
"Where are we going?" I sighed.
"Mr. Carlile's office." He grinned, he seemed oddly excited given apparently our lives together where supposed to be coming to an end tomorrow.
"Why?"
"Just come on Lex!" Matt whined, I sighed and gave in.
"Alright, let's go!"
The last few days had been hell, after what Ashby said, I dreaded going home, waiting for my parents to say those words 'you're moving schools' along with everything else they'd have to say about me sneaking around at school. I hadn't been myself this week and everyone, including Matt felt it, our lunch's had been almost silent, while I'd just sit there, knee's curled up to my chest. I'd barely let Matt touch me the entire week, I was scared, trying to distance myself in hope when that fatal blow came it would make it easier. But I knew it wouldn't.
"SURPRISE!" Every yelled as Matt opened the door. I stood there, completely bemused, Mr. Carlile had done his office out in birthday decorations, there was food on his desk. And in the room stood Jack, Kellin, Laura, Hayley, Joe, Mr. Carlile, Kayla, Harry and then that's when my heart stopped. My throat began closing up, my breathing became unstable, she was standing there, with a smile. A smile only a mother could hold for her son.
"Matt..."
"Baby, it's ok." Matt squeeze my hand. "You know that plan Kellin said he had...it worked...we can be together."
"What?" My mum flew her arms around me.
"Oh Alex I'm so sorry, I'm so, so sorry, please forgive me." She sobbed into my shoulder. My attack calmed down as I wrapped my arms around her, but it was suffice to say, I was confused as anything.
"Mum?"
She pulled away, wiping her eyes. "I'm so sorry Alex. I-I never had a problem with you and Matt, at first yes, I was shocked but once the shock settled, all I wanted was for you to be happy. I tried to talk your dad around b-but he trapped me, threatening to send you to some camp. B-but then your friend Kellin came to me with an idea, and, well, it worked. Alex, you are now free to do as you please, I gave your father an ultimatum, he either signed the forms, or he'd loose both of us for good. I'd move out, taking you with me, file divorce, everything."
"Wh-What's forms?"
"Baby, we got you Emancipated. You are, by law an adult in your own right and me and your father cannot control what you do anymore. Your father had three options in total, give in and let you and Matt be together, sign the forms or divorce. I don't know why but he just can't accept the fact your gay right now, maybe he will one day, but right now he can't, so, he eventually signed the forms. You're free to do as you wish."
I was in shock, surly I had to be dreaming all of this? I was waiting to wake up in my bed to learn this was all just a dream. But then the thoughts started running in my head, I couldn't afford to live on my own, where was I going to go? Surely my dad wouldn't let me carry on living there and be with Matt, even if I was Emancipated. "Where will I..."
"With me." Kayla smiled. "And Harry."
"We have a room set up for you and everything. Your mom has given us some money to cover your part of the bill until you can get yourself a job. Matt is welcome to come and go as he'd like, the only thing we ask is you both respect that it is our home so you keep noise down and no funny business. Kellin is moving in with us too so he can freely be with Vic without sneaking around."
"Wait but you only live in a..." I was confused, last time I checked, Kayla only lived in a small studio apartment, she didn't even live with Harry.
"Ahhh, we moved into a three bedroom house about a month ago." Kayla grinned. "Me and Harry have been together for four years, we both saved up enough money, and I came across the house about three months ago and fell in love with it. So we figured, why not? Then last week Kellin came to us with his little plan and we where only too happy to agree to do our part. And as we had the room, I wanted to rip my poor brother from my Aunt's mitts and have him where I knew he would be accepted, and safe. I have to say it, my brother's a smart arse when he wants to be."
"I try." Kellin shrugged.
I was lost for words, I couldn't believe this was actually happening. "I-I, uh, wow...this isn't a dream?"
"Nope, and to prove it..." Jack reached over and pinched my arm.
"OW!" I hissed, rubbing my arm, I felt that, so I guess it must have been real. "I-thank you, everyone." Tears formed in my eyes. I'd lost all hope and just like that, my hope was given back to me, and I had everyone to thank for that.
"We moved all your stuff this morning during our free period." Hayley smiled.
"Yeah, we have to say, you have a hella lot of stuff." Laura laughed. "But, it's all there, we put the clothes away, but we didn't have time to get the rest away."
"We still need to bring over your desk, bed, bedside table, but a van will be doing that tomorrow morning." My mum stoked my cheek. "All I've ever wanted is for you to be happy Alex, that's all any mother wants, and if Matt is what makes you happy, then I'm not going to stop you anymore."
"We know it's not much, but it will keep you and Matt together until your both ready to go out into the big wide world on your own." Mr. Carlile smiled. "And it means I can have my office back...not that I mind but you know!"
"Hear that baby, we can be together!" Matt grinned so brightly it was almost blinding.
"I-I don't know what to say..." I looked around everyone, grins plastered on their face as tears fell, for once, they where happy tears.
"I love you." Matt wiped away the tears with his thumbs and pressed his lips on mine.
"I love you too." I smiled, resting my forehead against his.
"Oh come here you two!" My mum pulled both me and Matt into a hug. "I am so sorry for everything, I hope you can both forgive me."
"It's ok mum, thank you." I breathed.
"We understand." Matt nodded as we pulled out of the hug.
"Now, shall we get this party started before lunch is over?" Mr. Carlile raised an eyebrow.
"Party!" Jack cried, we all laughed at Jack over dramatic call and music started coming from the CD player."Kellin...I-How'd you do it?" I looked at him shocked as me, Kellin, Jack and Matt where sat in Matt's room. As my furniture wasn't being moved til tomorrow and Matt's parents where out of town until tomorrow morning it was the best place for us to crash given I didn't think I fancied facing my dad. Even though he'd agreed to sign them, mum had said he was pretty pissed and it was probably best if I kept my distance for a little while, but she'd come over to see me once a week. I may be emancipated, but I was still her son and she was still my mum.
"Well, um, you know how we got you back together right?"
"Yeah, you broke into our house, stole our songs books and yeah...what does that have to do with it?" Matt raised an eye brow.
"Well, we didn't so much brake into to Alex's. Me and Jack sat down with your mum and talked, before we could finalize our plan to get you two back together, we had to have the facts. You wouldn't tell me anything other then you meant what you said, which I knew was total rubbish, so I had to go to your mum. That's when she told me she didn't actually have a problem with you being with Matt, and she explained the whole being trapped, blah, blah, blah."
"Ok...go on..." I urged.
"Well ok, so the next couple of months passed and, well we where at a loss as to what to do. Then in comes Mr. Carlile and his wise ways! See Jack and Matt had only gone to him to ask for ways to get you on your birthday...but ah ha ha! I'd gone to him a week before to ask for ideas on how to get you out of there completely! Again with the whole me being the brains here..." Kellin gloated.
"Alright smarty pants get on with it." Jack chuckled.
"Well, that's when he suggested I speak to your mum about getting you Emancipated. Remember how I wasn't there Tuesday lunch time? I said I was going to see Mr. Carlile about things that where going on at home with my Aunt?"
"Yeah..." I nodded.
"Well, I did go to Mr. Carlile's office, but then he signed me out of school and he came with me to speak to your mom. It took a little convincing, but once I told her that I was already planning on moving in with Kayla, and she'd be happy to take you in as well and she realized this was the best thing for you, she agreed. Your mum called me Wednesday saying she'd already spoken to a lawyer, she'd have all the forms by Thursday so all she had to do was tackle your dad. Which, she did Friday morning once he got back from taking you to school. He signed, Hayley and Laura had been waiting outside your house the whole time, your mum let them in and they got to moving your stuff. We already had the little surprise party planned so that was all sorted and we just added the detail of your mum being there to tell you last minute."
"Kellin, you're amazing thank you!" I threw my arms around him and he chuckled.
"Hey, you're like a brother to me, and bro's stick together."
"Seriously, Kel, you're awesome!" Matt grinned.
"I know." He shrugged. "I hate to say it...buttt I told you so."
"Alright big head!" Jack grabbed him in a light choke hold and messed up his hair.
"Woah, not the hair!" Kellin pouted, patting his hair back in place, well all couldn't help but laugh.
"There's still Ashby though..." I sighed. "He's going to be reallllly pissed that his plan to ruin us completely is going to backfire."
"Yeah that's a good point, we're in for it." Jack bit his lip.
"Screw Ashby!" Matt scoffed. "He can do what he likes, we got through this didn't we?"
"That's true." Kellin nodded.
"Yeah but you don't know him like I do." I said sadly. "He's going to do whatever he can to tear us apart, he'll find away. And then there's the whole Kellin's dating Vic's brother, if Mike found out..."
"Hey baby, we're stronger then that OK? I think we've proven that now don't you? I promised once we tackled your parents, we'd get to him. I have no idea what we're going to do, but we worked this out, so we can work that out too, okay? As for good old Kellic, well if Mike does find out, we'll deal with that too."
"Yeah me and Vic can handle, it's cool." Kellin gave me a small smile. "Pretty sure if I told Vic Mike was the one beating me, Vic would beat him. Vic may be quite small, but he's hella strong. The only reason why I haven't told him is because, well, it's his brother you know? And his parent's don't know, they're paying for his music college and yeah, I just don't want to mess things up for him. But if it comes to it, we can handle."
"What if he does to you what he did with that kid in his old school?" I looked over to Matt, the thought of Matt laying there in ICU fighting for his life, I just couldn't deal with that.
"Baby, stop, let's just enjoy this weekend, celebrate your birthday, be happy and Ashby and his band of idiots can wait until Monday alright?"
I sighed and nodded. "Okay, we'll worry about him Monday."
"Good." Matt pulled me in for a kiss.A/N: Ahhh so everything is right again in the Flykarth world. But Alex is right...Ashby is going to be piiiiiisssseeeddd! What's he going to do? Will Mike find out about Kellic? What's going to happen then? Also, where the hell have Zack and Rian gone? What are they going to do? Will they even show up again? Who knows?
Also, how is Alex going to handle adulthood? Although things are getting better, and he's happier, depression and anxiety doesn't just go away in the click of a finger (sadly).
You'll just have to wait for the updates. But I'll let them be happy...for now anyway *evil grin*. xox
