Chapter 32

Matt's POV

"What do you mean...they're planning something?" Jack's eye where wide with fear.
"We don't know what...but we do know it involves Alex...I don't know what they're planning on doing, but I know if we don't stop it he's going to get seriously hurt." Zack explained.
"Alan's words where 'I'm putting an end to them once and for all'." Rian looked terrified.
My heart pounded hard against my chest, my breathing became unsteady, they...they where going to hurt Alex...and by the sounds of it...not just a simple beating.
"Why are you telling us this?" I looked at them confused, trying to calm my breathing.
"Matt, please, we've always been on your side. At first yes, we where scared, so we took the coward option. But then we saw what they where doing to you, to Jack, to Alex, to Kellin, it killed us man. So, me and Rian sat down and talked. We agreed we'd be useless if we just ditched Ashby and ended up where you lot where, but if we stayed on the inside...we'd be more useful. It's why Alan never went running to your parent's Matt, we told them they'd known for years so it was pointless. I know that was a lie, but they believed it and it stopped them. We saw how much it tore you apart when Alex's parents ripped him away from you, and we knew your parents didn't know and we didn't want to see you so torn up again. So, we stopped them. They where planning on beating the hell out of you just before Christmas, but we heard, went running to Mr. Mullin's and he called them in for a meeting to discuss their music projects, so they wouldn't get the chance. We've done that every time we've over heard something, created various different diversion's. We couldn't stop them all, sadly, but we stopped what we could. But we also agreed not to tell you, because we couldn't risk anything looking suspicious, but whatever their planning now, we can't stop it so we had to come tell you."
I was speechless, this whole time I thought they didn't care, but it turns out, they've saved us on more then one occasion, they'd been on side with us all this time. This whole time they'd been on the side line, protecting us from a distance, they really did care. All this time I was so mad that they'd turned their backs, but I'd been so wrong about them. I couldn't deny it, I did feel a little guilty, doubting them like that, we'd all been friends since primary school, I should've known better.  Jack looked just as speechless as I did. "I-I don't know what to say..."
"We're really sorry for making you think we didn't care Matt." Rian looked sadly, but before anything more could be said, me and Jack engulfed them in a hug.
"It's ok." I whispered.
"God I hated you guys so much, but now I love you." Jack chuckled. We eventually broke the hug, I was so happy to have my friends back, but we had more important matters to think about right now, and that was whatever they where planning.
"W-what are we going to do about..." I trailed off, I didn't want to finish my sentence.
"We have a few ideas, but we're going to need Vic for the Mike side of things."
"Ok, I'll call him, he's home for a couple days, I'll get him over, shall I get Kellin too?" Jack got out his phone.
"Yeah." Zack nodded.
"What about Alex?" Rian asked.
I shook my head. "No, hearing this, it'll bring back all his anxiety, he stopped taking his meds a month ago, he's been doing so well but I almost lost him last time. We'll protect him, he doesn't need to know, well not just yet, not until we got a plan that's going to work. Once we figured it out, I'll speak to him alone, but for now, just let him carry on as we are, he's happy and I don't want to tear that down just yet. As long as someone's with him all the time, it'll be ok, he lives with Kellin, his sister and Harry and I'm there most of the time. At work, he's usually there with his boss, and the times he's alone, we can always go hang out there, we usually do anyway. Mr. Carlile hangs out there alot too when Oli, his boss is working, as Oli is his house mate, so he's covered at work. I'll go see Mr. Carlile first thing Monday and tell him everything."
"Alright, well, get Kellin and Vic over and let's get to the drawing board, I don't think we have time to waste. Where is Alex now?"
"With his mom, then he'll be home and Kay and Harry are home tonight, so he'll be fine." I nodded.
"Hey Kel, yeah...we need you and Vic over here pronto it's urgent...i-it's Alan...we'll explain when you get here but we need you, now...we don't know details but we're all really worried Kel...we got to end this before it's too late...yeah...can you contact him?...Ok thanks...see you in a bit." Jack hung up the phone and looked at us. "They're on their way, and Kellin's calling in on Mr. Carlile on the way, they know where he lives apparently."
"Good, it's better to get him in sooner rather then later." I nodded. "Is there anything else you know?"
"No." Zack shook his head. "Only that they're planning something big and it's going to apparently put an end to you two and make an example for everyone else. It's just a theory...but I think they're planning on hurting Alex...badly."
"We-we think he might try and..."
"Not going to happen." I shook my head violently, fear filling me, I knew how it sounded, I knew what their theory was...Alan was planning on doing to Alex what he did to the kid in his old school but do it properly. I wasn't going to let that happen, no one was going to take him away from me, not now, not ever, he would be my husband one day, he would have his happily ever after and I'd do whatever it took. I would protect him, even if it meant loosing my own life, at least he would live, he could find someone else...as much as that thought killed me. I couldn't bare the thought of him being with someone else, he was mine and only mine. But if it meant he would live and I kept my promise then so be it. But both of us would survive this, both of us would live and we'd find our Neverland together, forever, there was no way I was going to let him win. I promised him, he wore the ring as proof of my promise and I wasn't going to break that promise and make that ring worthless. The ring was worth the world to me, to him so I wasn't about to brake it and turn it to nothing. All this would end, one way or another, that I was sure of. I just hoped we had enough time to put a plan in place.
