The Challenge

Chapter 45

There's about two months left of school. That means, two more months until I graduate. Two more months and I'm done with Hogwarts. I don't want to leave. 
I am in the court yard with Val and Fred. We are working on our Charms paper. This is taking forever. I lean back against the tree and sigh. "I'm so tired."
"You always are." Fred says. "And hungry and stress and you always have to use the loo."
"Yes and it bloody sucks." I whine. 
"Well, get used to it." Val laughs. "It'll be like that for the next 6 months." 
I groan. "It's so bloody hot!"
Kaitlin walks over frowning. "I need Val." She grabs Val and drags her inside. 
Fred and I exchange weird looks. "What the hell was that about?" Fred questions. 
I shrug, "no idea." I see Andrew walk by. "Andy!" I call out. 
He walks over, "hey. Did you guys see Kaitlin?"
I nod, "she stormed away with Val. What's going on?"
"James bloke up with her." Andrew replies. 
"How come?" I quiz. 
Andrew shrugs, "I have no clue. I just saw them arguing and Kaitlin walling away after James said they were done.
I frown, "I thought they were good couple."
Fred snorts, "no they weren't. All they did was snog."
"Not that bad of a relationship." Andrew says. 
I give him a weird look. "A good relationship isn't just about snogging."
"True. But it's a fun one." Andrew winked. 
It is now time for lunch. We go to the Great hall. I sit down at the Gryffindor table. I swear, I spend most of my time with Gryffindors. Sorry not sorry. I sit across from Fred and next to Albus. "It's hot." I whine. 
Rox sits down next to me, "it is."
"What happened to Kaitlin?" I ask Rox.
"James broke up with her because he said and I quote, 'I like someone else. No. I love someone else.'" Rox explains.
Albus laughs a little, "aw. Ickle Jamesie loves someone."
"Wonder who." Hugo butts in. 
"Isn't it obvious?" Rox questions. 
"No it's not obvious." I mimic her. 
"Bloody hell, Sapphire.-"
Rox didn't finish what she was saying because I suddenly felt lightheaded and grabbed her arm tightly. "Shit." I groan and head my head. I feel like everything is spinning around me. I try to take deep breaths hopping it'll help. But my head is spinning. My vision begins to blur white. 
"Sapphire." Rox holds me steady. 
"We need to get her to the hospital wing." I hear Fred. I try my best to stay awake but my head is spinning too much. I close my eyes when I feel someone pick me up. Why does this keep happening to me? For merlin's sake!
I feel myself get laid down on a flat bed. Something cold touches my forehead. I open my eyes to see people standing over my. "It's okay, Sapphire." Pomfrey says as she dabs a cold towel on my forehead. "You're fine. The heat was just too much for you." I sigh sadly. "You can get some rest if you'd like." I close my eyes and slowly fall asleep. 

The next day I wake up in the hospital wing. I feel something cold on my forehead. I take it off and put it on the table next to me. I sit up and run my hands through my hair. "Morning."
I jump slightly but calm down. I look to my right to see James. I was hoping it would be Fred. "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to talk to you." James says. 
"About what?" I question. 
"About what happened at your birthday party." 
I sigh and lean against the bed frame. "I don't want to hear it."
"Just hear me out!" James gets up and sits on my bed. "When I said 'I love you', I bloody mean it. I'm in love with you, I don't care what anyone else says. I love you and will never leave you. You don't have to believe me, but that's how I feel. You keep forcing yourself to think that no one will ever love you again and it needs to bloody stop because I'm here and I'm completely in love with you Sapphire Malfoy." I sit there in shock. I don't know what to say or do. "Please say something." James begs. 
"You dated Kaitlin." I manage to say. 
"The only reason I agreed to date her was because I wanted to get you jealous." James explains. "I saw that it wasn't working so I broke up with her. Sure Kaitlin's brilliant. But she's not you."
I bite my lip and look down at my lap. "You can't love me."
"Were you not listening?" James exclaims. "I love you, Sapphire. More than you can imagine. Took me 6 1/2 years to realize that but now I know. I'm completely in love with you. I hate how you got hurt by Tom and now think no one can ever love you. Why can't you just accept the fact that I love you and I'm willing to do anything for you?"
I look at James. "Stop it."
"Sapphire." James says quietly. "Please."
"Get out." 
"Sapph." James pleads. 
"I said, 'get out'!" I yell at him. 
James sighs and gets up. "No matter how many times you try to push me away, it won't change how I feel about you." James walks out of the hospital wing. 
I scream in frustration and throw a potion bottle across the wing. Ponfrey comes running in, "what's wrong?!" She rushes over to me, "calm down, Sapphire."
"I want to leave now." I tell her. "Can I go to my dorm?" 
Pomfrey sighs, "I'll have Miss Winters come and take you. I don't want you having a tantrum or panic attack alright?"
I sigh, "fine."
Pomfrey leaves and comes back a few minutes later with Val. Val walks over to me, "are you okay?"
I get up from the bed. "I'm fine." We go to the Slytherin common room and I go straight to our dorm. I lay down on my bed and groan. 
Val sits next to me, "what's wrong?"
"I don't know." I roll onto my stomach and burry my face into my pillow. 
"Sapphire. Come on tell me." Val rubs my back. 
"James told me he loves me." I say into my pillow. 
"What?" Val questions. 
I lift my head up, "James told me he loves me earlier in the wing." I drop my head back onto the pillow. 
"Okay.. There has to be something else to it. You're acting all weird." Val says and shakes me. "Come on Sapphire."
"I don't know!" I roll over. "I don't know."
"You need to get your priorities straight." Val jokes. "Don't stress over it too much. Just tell him to leave you alone or something if you don't like him the same way."
"I yelled at him saying to 'get out'. Cause I didn't want to hear it."
She nods, "okay. He'll take that as a hint then."
I groan and pull a pillow over my face. "I don't think I want this baby anymore."
Val snatches the pillow from me. "Stop talking into a pillow, damn it. What did you say?"
"I said I'm hungry." I whine. "Can we go eat."
She rolls her eyes, "come on then."

I sit in transfiguration bored to death. McGonagall is going on about N.E.W.T.'s. Which are in two weeks. I feel a balled up piece of parchment hit my face. I glare at James. He sends me an innocent smile and continue to do what ever he was doing. I throw the ball of parchment at Andrew and he frowns at me. He chucks it back at me and I throw it at Fred. He glares at me and throws it back. 
"Mr. Weasley." McGonagall says sternly. "You will be staying after class to clean this floor for throwing things in my classroom."
I bite my lip trying not to laugh. Fred groans loudly. "Sapphire threw it first!"
"Then Miss Malfoy will join you." McGonagall says. 
I frown, "but James started it!" 
"Mr. Potter will join as well." 
James groans, "oh come on."
I stick my tongue out. "You started it."
Once class is dismissed, everyone goes to lunch. Fred, James, and I stay to clean the classroom. We pick up the trash off the ground and straighten things out. "That's enough," McGonagall says after 15 minutes. "Go ahead to lunch."
"Finally." Fred exclaims and runs out of the classroom. 
I laugh and shake my head. He was supposed to meet yo with Val at lunch. I walk out of the classroom and head to the great hall. "Sapphire! Wait up." James catches up with me. "Look, what I said."
I cut him off and kiss him. "Shut up." I smile a little and I walk away. I go to the great hall and sit with Scorpius and Andrew.  
-After classes ended for the day, I go to the Black Lake and sit by a tree. I pull out my book and start to read. I hear a laugh. "Is that all you do?" Tom walks up to me. "Go to the lake, read, complain about life and acting like a stupid rich girl or acting like a helpless little girl." 
I roll my eyes, "piss off."
"I just wanted to say that your parents talked to my parents."
I glare at him, "why?"
"They're trying to get you back so they can take care of that stupid baby." Tom growls. 
I roll my eyes, "they're not going anywhere near me nor my babies. Now piss off."
Tom laughs, "whatever you say. Just know that-"
I stand up and gather my things. "How about you figure out why the hell every time you open your bloody mouth annoying noises fly from it." I flip him off and walk away. I go to the court yard and sit with Scorpius, Rose and Albus. "Hey."
"You look mad." Scorpius points out. 
I roll my eyes, "Tom is being an ass. Like always."
"Nothing new then." Albus offers some jelly beans. 
"Thanks." I take a few and pop them into my mouth. "Anyways, what are you guys up to?"
"Rose is forcing us to do homework." Scorpius groans dramatically. 
Rose rolls her eyes, "it's due soon and you two haven't started it yet." 
"You sound like your mum." Albus frowns.
She sticks her tongue out. "Well, you sound like your brother."
"Oi. Don't compare me with him." Albus glares at her. 
I laugh at them. "Stop arguing and do your work."
"Can you help me?" Albus asks with a sweet smile. 
I mimic his smile. "No."
Albus groans, "please? I'm tired of homework!"
"You haven't done anything." Rose points out. 
"Still." Albus whines. 
"You whine too much." Scorpius says. 
"So do you." I smirk. 
"Look who's talking." Scorpius shoots back. 
"Sapphire." 
I look up to see James. "That's my name."
"I need to talk to you." James says. 
"You are." I smile. 
He gives me a look. "Sapphire."
I groan dramatically. "But I'm so comfortable on the grass." I pat the ground. 
James groans, "Fine. Do you want to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?" Albus, Rose and Scorpius watch like we were their favorite tv show. 
"Sounds fun." I smile at James slightly. 
James grins, "brilliant. Meet me at the castle's entrance?"
I nod, "see ya then." James smiles and walks off. 
"Oooo!!!" Albus nudges me. "You're going on a date with my brother."
I roll my eyes, "shut up."
"That's so cute!" Rose grins. "Did you see how big he smiled? Can I help you get ready?!"
"No." I say flatly. 
Rose pouts, "please."
I pout, "no."
Albus smirks at me, "I get to tease you now."
"Really?" I question. "I can tease you just as easily." 
Albus glares at me. "Shut up."
"That's what I thought." I smirk.  
"Sapphire has a date!" Albus screams and gets up. He runs up to Fred and Val. "Sapphire has a date!"
"Albus! Shut up!" I yell. 
They walk up to us and Fred smirks. "Who's your date?"
"No one." I glare at Albus. 
"She fancies him!" Albus laughs. "I knew it!!"
"Who?" Val questions.
"James." I mutter quietly. 
"Sorry, I didn't quite catch that." Scorpius smirks. 
"I'm going to Hogsmeade with James. Happy?" I exclaim.
"I thought you hated him." Fred smirks.
I glare at him, "piss off Fred."
Albus got up all in my face and smirks. "You have a date with James." I flick his forehead, "ow!"
