Chapter 24.5

(Poland's POV)

"Idiot!" America yelled." The target is that little country, not Russia! "

" Why does it matter?" China yelled back. " The objective was to get his attention, right? That's what happened."

     Poland sat at the table in silence. She tried to recall how in the world she got mixed up in all this. She knew Germany, as she had seen him from afar. He was rather good-looking, and Poland couldn't help but yearn for him. But these people wanted to hurt him.

So why was she here?

      Poland had been assured by America that everyone would get what they desired. In some way, she would have the man of her dreams. But the more she thought about it, the more wrong it seemed to be.

       She didn't seem to be the only skeptical one. Czech Republic and Phillipines had said nothing either. Poland felt her heart ache for the two. Neither actually wanted any part in this devious plan. Phil was actually very kind, and Czech was quiet and more reserved. America had forced them into this. Poland knew that North Korea could be next.

     America and China yelled back and forth at each other for a little while longer. They really hadn't gotten anywhere since they all met up. China had apparently targeted the wrong person.

      After another minute of useless bickering, America huffed and turned to everyone else.

" I think everyone knows why we're here," America said. " We're here to get Russia back to me- and get revenge on Germany. As we all know, the plan is to send a spy to try and tear them apart."

       Poland shifted uncomfortably. She knew what she was getting herself into. She knew that if she chose to turn her back on this plan, the consequences could prove fatal. Poland decided that as long as she got what she wanted, she was willing to take that leap of faith. She had been assigned to be the spy.

" Here's the plan: Poland creeps her way into the friend group. She's going to gather information about Russia and Germany's plans. She's going to show up "coincidentally" at different places where it's just the two of them. That way, no one else can be suspicious."

      Poland got a sick feeling in her stomach. She was going to spy on the one she loved and his lover. She was basically going to stalk the two from the inside.

" As long as I get what I want," She muttered. " I'll do it."

You're not actually gonna do this, are you? " Phillipines asked Poland.

" Of course I am," Poland replied. " America promised we would all get what we wanted. It'll be worth it if I get what I want."

" At least you had a choice in all this," Czech said quietly. " Phil and I were forced."

     Poland looked down at her feet as she walked. She didn't want to think about how wrong this plan could go. She didn't want to think about who was going to get hurt. All she wanted was her beloved Germany.

And as long as she got it, nothing else mattered.

      (Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter! As you can obviously tell, this one is a little different!  It is sort of an in-betweeny chapter that is meant to foreshadow future chapters.

A quick side note: The story may or may not speed up after this point. If it does speed up, it won't speed up a whole lot. I would like to finish the book at around 45 chapters, but I don't think I want to speed it up for the sake of making this goal. We'll see.

This chapter is much shorter than the rest, which is also part of the reason why it's a half chapter.)
