( Reichtanlge's POV)

Reichtangle sat drowsily on the couch. It had been a long day of work. His job wasn't awful, but he had to admit- the meetings and silent hours in the office really wore him out. Reichtangle reached for the television remote and pushed the power button. An old cartoon was playing, but he didn't pay too much attention to it.

He picked up the newspaper from the morning, unfolding it and skipping straight to the crosswords. He pulled a pencil out from his jacket pocket and began to solve it. He was almost completely focused on filling in the words. He took great pride in problem solving abilities.

Reichtangle's mind wandered. He never really noticed how quiet the house was until he was sitting alone. He threw house parties every now and then, but silence always followed. He knew he wasn't completely alone, of course- he hat his cat.

Just as he had started to wonder where his cat had went, she suddenly came to him, walking around a corner. She hopped onto the couch, her orange fur shining in the room light. The stripes along her back shifted as she stretched. She crawled into Reichtangle's lap, purring softly at the warmth of her owner.

" Hallo, Bretzel, darling," Reichtangle muttered to the cat, gently petting her. Bretzel let out a pleased "mrrow" as he stroked her fur.

Reichtangle sighed. Besides his few friends and his beloved cat, he really had no one. His father was gone. As for his son and grandson...

Reichtangle looked sadly at the framed picture on his coffee table. There they were, all three of them, smiling and looking like an actual family. He tried not to give too much thought to his son and grandson. Reich hated him, and he never came around, let alone brought Germany to see him.

He chuckled at the thought of his grandson. He and Germany used to solve the crossword puzzles in the newspapers together. He was intelligent for his age, and would even figure out words he couldn't. He always had this sort of scared look on his face. Reichtangle often wondered why that was. His father was always fearless and unregretful, yet Germany seemed apologetic and shy. He always feared that Reich was too rough with him, but his son had assured him he wasn't.

" Don't worry about him," Reich had once said. " He's a young boy. He's perfectly fine with my treatment."

Reichtangle sighed to himself. He missed his son, but missed Germany more. He often wondered how the two were doing. He had thought about paying them a visit, but Reich had always tried to keep himself and Germany as far from him as possible. It broke his heart, knowing that he wasn't going to be able to watch his little grandson grow up.

Out of nowhere, Reichtangle's home phone began to ring. This was rather strange, as he rarely ever got phone calls. He was a little apprehensive, but he assumed that picking up the call wouldn't do anyone any harm.

" Hallo?" He said into the phone.

" Is this Mr. Reichtangle?" The voice asked. Reichtangle was shocked to hear the voice of Japanese Empire, one of Reich's childhood friends.

" Ja. What is it?"

" I called to tell you that your grandson was injured this afternoon and has been hospitalized. "

Reichtangle nearly dropped the phone. He was shocked speechless. What had happened to Germany? Of course he had wanted to see his grandson, but not like this.

" I tried to get a hold of his father," Empire began. " But he...He said he had no son. "

Reichtangle growled quietly at this information. His asshole of a son wasn't even going to see Germany in the hospital. That bastard.

" I was wondering if you would come-"

" Natürlich. I'm on my way."

Reichtangle hung up. Brushing off his work clothes, he stood up from the couch. He grabbed the keys to his car and was about to open the door when he stopped himself.

" Bretzel, come. "

Following his command, Bretzel leaped off of the couch, ran over to her owner, and climbed up his back, sitting on his shoulder.

" Let's go, Katze. We are going to see my grandson."

( Hope you all enjoyed this short half-chapter! It's very possible that I will end up writing the next chapter tonight as well.

I am going to add my Q&A chapter at some point. If you still want to ask me anything, feel free to!)
