You lie through your teeth
with a lofty pledge,
but I can't breathe.
Knee on neck, life ebbing beneath,
my rights you scornfully allege.
You lie through your teeth.
Now they kneel but seethe,
you've forced them to the ledge
and they can't breathe.
You spin us fake wreaths of peace
while subtly jamming the wedge.
You lie through your teeth.
They control the crowded streets,
you push them over the edge.
They still can't breathe.Until things change, they won't think to cease
no matter how far your morals stretch.
You lie through your teeth
meanwhile, we can't breathe.
