Ten

"Hey Elly come over here" James calls excitedly. I smile and walk over. Seeing him so happy almost makes me forget my fight with Sirius. Half way to him I notice he's not alone. Sirius is sitting beside him and he does not look happy. I almost turn around right then but I make myself keep walking plastering a fake smile on.

"Hey James what's up" I said sitting across from the boys. James looks a little confused that I didn't sit with them.

"So the annual Halloween Marauders party is coming in two days and we need to plan costumes" he says. I quickly glance at Sirius. Either he didn't tell James about our fight or James doesn't care. Sirius looks at me and I try to smile at him but he just looks at James.

"Hey man I got to go I'll talk to you about this later" he gets up not even sparing me one last look. I tear up a little but swallow and put a fake smile back on. James sees right through it though.

"Elly come here" he says. I walk over and sit on his lap curling up against his chest. "What happened why aren't you two talking and why do you look like you're gonna cry every time you look at him" he asked.

"We had a fight last night" I said a tear slipping down my face.

"You guys have fought before you always get over it" he said.

"It was bad this time Prongs he took his jacket back and everything, he looked broken what did I do James I'm such a bad friend" I said my voice breaking.

"Hey no of course you're not tell me what all was said" he said wiping my face.

"I was mad because his brother was getting on my nerves with the whole thing about me and Sirius being in love and stuff and then I ran into him in the common room and he called me love and was being really sweet to me. He pushed my hair out of my face and I pushed his hand away and told him not to touch me and not to call me that. I said that we weren't a couple and that we needed to stop acting like it. That's when he started to look broken his eyes filled with tears and he asked for his jacket back. His voice was shaking I thought it might be from anger but now I think it was from pain. And so I was still mad and I ripped the jacket off of me and shoved it back in his arms then stormed off" I finally finished and by the end I felt panicky. I am such an awful person. Why couldn't I see how much I was hurting him. I hear my brothers voice behind me and I hop up and run to him. I bury my face in his neck shaking.

"El what's wrong" he asks me when I don't answer he calls out to James "what happened why is my sister freaking out"

"Her and Sirius are fighting" James says his voice showing how concerned he was.

"I'm gonna kill him" Ollie growled rubbing my back. At this I started to panic more.

"No no Ollie please don't its my fault he didn't do anything" I said shaking my head.

"No clearly he did something otherwise you wouldn't be like this" Ollie said. He pulled me off of him and motioned for Remus to help me. Remus moved to put an arm around my waist leading me back to the couch. "I'm gonna go talk to him figure out what's going on" Ollie says. James whispers something to him and understanding crosses his face. I make out Ollie say "Well I should still talk to him I doubt you or Remus could stay very calm in that conversation you just distract her with the Halloween plans" I would be mad that I was being left out of stuff but if it helps fix what I did to Sirius I don't even care.

"So El what costume are you gonna wear for the Halloween party" Remus asks me as I lean my head on his shoulder.

"I've decided not to tell anyone this year you'll just have to be surprised at the party" I said grinning.
