Liberosis (A Marauders Era Fanfiction)

One

"Dad I wanted to ask you a question" I say looking up at him. It's one of his few days off.

"Yes dear what is it" he says putting down the book he was reading.

"Do you think that I look like mom" I ask looking in a mirror that is on the wall facing our kitchen table.

"I think you sometimes do but your powers have changed the way you look over the years more than anything I think you act like her" he says. I smile a little.

"How is that" I say trying to remember what she acted like.

"You love with your whole heart just like her and you act like it rather than hiding it like most people do that's all your mom" he says, "your brother got more of me in that aspect he loves a lot but he tends to hide it away more you are shameless about your love" he says smiling at me.

"I wish I could remember her more why do memories we try to hold onto tightest slip away quickest" I say trying to ignore the sudden glassiness of the room.

"I think that you were just too young and that it wasn't important that you remember moments but rather feelings" he says picking a little lint off my pants.

"I do remember love but Ollie remembers moments" I say a little jealous of my brother.

"Well maybe those were the parts that were important for him" he says and I turn back to look at the mirror again.

I'm walking to the kitchen through the darkened living room when I hear a knock at the door. I make my way over to it yawning. I rub my eyes wondering who it could be. I open it to Regulus. He is shaking holding his trunk and looks ready to explode whether into tears or screams I can't be sure but he holds it together.

"Hi" is all he says. I pull him into a hug and lead him inside.

"Do you want to talk about it" I ask sitting him down at the kitchen counter and pouring him some tea.

"Will you owl my brother" is all he says. I look at him for a minute then nod and go to do what he asked. Once its sent I sit down beside him. We sit in silence for a good 20 minutes before we hear a loud crack. I turn and see Sirius who is still in pajama pants and has clearly just thrown on the closest shirt he could find.

"Reg" he says before his brother runs into his arms and lets out a sob. I walk out to give them a little privacy and go to tell Ollie and my dad. When I return to check on them they are in almost the same position except they've moved to the couch.

"Are you okay Reg" I ask sending him another concerned look. "You don't have to talk about it just tell me what you need" I say.

"A place to stay and a hug" he says his voice breaking and I go to the couch and give him the biggest hug I can.

"My dad says you can stay here as long as you'd like until you graduate and want to get your own place if you want the only thing is you will have to share a room with me or Ollie" I say once we pull back.

"I don't really know Ollie its okay if I stay with you" he asks. He looks broken and I break a little inside.

"Yeah of course we can get one of the old beds out of the attic tomorrow for tonight you can just take mine" I say then turn to Sirius. "Are you going home or do you want to stay here tonight to I can get out an air mattress" I say.

"Reg you'll be alright" he asks when Regulus nods he nods "Okay then I should probably go home I didn't tell anyone I was leaving they will be worried sick" he said pulling Regulus into one last hug. "You sure you're alright" he asks.

"I will be and I have Elly" he said nudging me. I smile then hug Sirius before he pops out.

"Okay so are you tired or do you want to do something" I ask him.

"They tried to make me take the mark Elly he was on his way there to give it to me I was meant to be getting ready but I packed up and left" he says and I sit down and give him my full attention. "I was so scared I'm still so scared he's not gonna stop until he finds me now" Regulus says tearing up again.

"Hey he won't find you and I promise if he did he would have to go through not just me but my dad and brother too they might not know you yet but they won't abandon you and neither will I" I say pulling him to me.

"I can't let him hurt you to get to me this is why I didn't leave sooner" he says.

"Hey I'm tougher than I look plus I'm already a target I wasn't just gonna stand by silently I will fight him I'm in danger with or without you but I would rather it be with you" I say stroking his hair.

"Thank you Elly I mean it thank you for everything" he says then yawns.

"Why don't we get some sleep huh" I say showing him to my room. I point toward the door to the bathroom. "You can change in there and this is where you'll sleep for tonight" I say pointing to my bed.

"I really don't wanna take your bed" he says looking at it hesitantly.

"If you don't mind me telling my dad you're gay we can share it he will be supportive" I say, "but if you'd rather I not it really doesn't matter I can just blow up the air mattress"

"You can tell him since I know he's supportive I never told my parents but it should be fine" he says looking happy to finally be in an excepting home.

"Okay well you'll meet him tomorrow he didn't want to overwhelm you tonight" I say as he gets out some pajamas from his trunk.

"That's nice of him" he says "I'm gonna go change I'll be right back" While he is in the bathroom I move my dresser and bookshelf with my wand to one wall to make room for his bed that we will bring down tomorrow. He walks out and looks around at the rearranged room.

"El did you do this by yourself" he asks.

"I just used my wand they won't pick up on the trace since I live with dad they'll just think it was him just don't tell him I did it he would get mad" I say laughing. "So I think we should put your bed against that wall and you can have half the closet and dresser do you have anything you want to hang up and what color do you want your wall" I say as we climb into bed.

"Are you really that excited for me to live with you" he asks laughing.

"Yeah I am I think it will be so much fun" I say.

"What if we get sick of each other" he asks.

"I could never get sick of you" I say then turn off the lights and turn my back to him.
