Chapter 30

Busy

"You failed one of your exams? Is that true?" I asked him unbelievably. This is the first I heard something about this. He loves to study, I can't believe he failed on his exam.

"Saan mo narinig?" He asked, avoiding my gaze.

"Answer me, is it true?" I asked again. I am looking at him softly.

"Yes." He simply said. Hindi pa rin siya makatingin sakin.

"How?—why? What happened? You studied, right?"

"I don't know. It just happened."

"Is that possible? Maybe it is wrongly checked? Have you reviewed it?" Sunud-sunod kong tanong. That's probably the case.

"I failed." He said with finality. "Don't think about it. Hindi naman ako babagsak ng sem dahil doon."

"But..." Hindi ko na tinuloy ang gusto ko pang sabihin dahil mukhang ayaw na niyang pag usapan.

"Malapit na mag start ang klase mo. Let's go back." He picked up my books from the table and gave it to me, before doing the same thing to his. Sumunod ako sa kaniya palabas ng library.

While walking at the school ground, I can't help but think about him, failing. Is there something wrong with him? This past few days, I'm feeling that he's keeping something from me, or maybe, he just can't tell me.

The next day, I went to his building to see him because he wasn't replying to my messages, but they told me he's absent.

And he didn't tell me? What's up to him, really?

Umalis na ako agad sa college building. Pupunta na lang ako sa kanila. I am walking towards the gate to wait from kuya Carlo, when I saw Noelle coming on my way.

"Uuwi ka na? Asan si Wren?" She asked.

"Absent daw, pupuntahan ko na lang siya sa bahay nila."

"Baka nambabae." Noelle joked.

"Sira!" I chuckled. "Saan ka pupunta?"

"Ah. Sa faculty, may ipapasa lang. Ingat ka." Noelle said. We bid goodbyes with each other before walking to the opposite direction.

Hindi na ako nag hintay ng matagal kay kuya Carlo dahil agad naman siyang dumating. Saktong pagdating ko sa kanila, pagbaba pa lang niya sa sasakyan niya.

"Wren!" I called him out. He was about to enter the door. I immediately went to him.

"What are you doing here?"

"Bakit hindi ka pumasok? Bakit hindi ka nagrereply sa mga text ko?" Tanong ko din sa kaniya.

"Emergency, galing akong company. I forgot my phone in my room, I'm sorry." He sighed. Nakatayo lang kami sa tapat ng pintuan nila.

"Do you have a problem?" I asked. Tumingin ako sa kaniya gamit ang mga mata kong nangungusap.

"Nothing. Something just came up. It is fine now."

"Okay." I said in a small voice. "I missed you." I said and encircled my arms around his chest.

"We just saw each other yesterday." He chuckled.

"I don't know, but it feels like you've been gone for so long." My voice sounds tired. I don't even know why I feel like we didn't see each other for a long time.

"My baby can't stand a day without seeing me. You're being clingy." He teased. Ngayon niya pa lang ako niyakap at hinigpitan niya iyon.

"You don't like it?"
