"TASHA WAS LOSING her shit today." Logan starts to laugh, and eventually I join in. "I mean, come on. Just because you can't have a cookie you're going to have a meltdown?"
"Food addiction is a serious thing!" I hit him on the chest and lean over to the bag in his hand. "Speaking of food addiction, sour patch me, please."
He digs out a few and places them into my hand. The sun is setting in front of us, and honestly that's probably my favorite part about Florida. The sunsets are always just a bunch of bright red and orange swirls mixed into one, and if I could look at them forever I would.
He grabs the last of the sour patch kids before he tosses them into a nearby trash can. We're almost back to the dorms now. After we got dinner at a restaurant close to campus, he offered to walk me back. I didn't decline because you just never know about the college boys here. A lot of them are creepy.
"Sour, sweet, gone." He laughs when I roll my eyes. "What? It's their slogan."
"Okay, but you don't have to say that every time you finish a bag, loser."
"Loser?" He arches his eyebrow up towards me. "Oh, you're going to regret that Garcia."
When he lunges for me I erupt into laughter and run into the dorm building as fast as possible. I take the stairs so that I don't have to wait for the elevator, hearing him only steps behind me.
"Here's your slogan!" I erupt into laughter, continuing to race up the stairs. "Slow. Boring. Never going to catch me!"
He's out of breath when I finally reach the door to the third floor. I swing it open and race down the hallway towards the room. I haven't had this much fun in awhile.
"Garcia, slow down!" He erupts into laughter and finally catches up to me when we reach the end of the hall. He picks me up so I fling over his shoulder, and no matter how much I'm trying to stop laughing I just can't. It's not even that funny, but I seriously can't breathe.
"Put me down, Logan!" I screech as he rounds the corner.
"Put you down?" He laughs harder and tightens his grip on my legs. "You think after you made me work out more than I ever have in my life I'm going to put you down?"
"You suck." I tease, remaining to hang upside down.
When someone clears their throat, Logan stops walking and quickly puts me back on my feet. I turn around to see Xavier standing by the door, his eyes blacker than I've ever seen them. Oh shit.
He's wearing a pair of vans, black ripped skinny jeans and a black t-shirt. My mouth literally dries out as I stare at the gold chain around his neck. I remember when I used to pull on that same exact one all night.
My skirt is hiked so far up my ass from being over Logan's shoulder, and when Xavier looks at me and then back to him his jaw clenches.
"Xavier." I breathe out suddenly and pull my skirt down. "What are you doing here?"
"Ah, the famous Xavier." Logan sticks his hand out to him like the corny idiot he is, sending him another dazzling smile. "I'm Logan."
Xavier looks at his hand and then looks back to him. "I'm good." He says bitterly. "I came over to see if we could work more on the project. Clearly you're busy though, so I'll leave you to it."
"Oh." Logan stuffs his hands into the pocket of his sweatpants. "This is definitely not what it looks like. See, Garcia and I are just friends."
"Didn't seem like it." He notes, his tone clipped. "But it's none of my business. Like I said, I'll leave you to it."
