THE PAST MONTH has been somewhat bearable, which is surprising to me. Between the awkwardness from studying at the library with Xavier, to trying to ignore his stares in class, you'd think I'd be a lot more upset than I am. Especially since he hasn't even bothered to talk to me after that night I blew up on him. Thankfully I've got Logan though, and if it weren't for us becoming friends I don't know how I would have gotten through this.
Granted, Amelia is one of my friends too, but she doesn't know about my addiction. It's hard for me to vent to her when I can't exactly tell her everything yet. She's so judgmental about other girls on our campus and about the rumors that go around. When she found out I slept with Cameron I could see it written all over her face. If I told her about my addiction? I can only imagine what she'd think.
"Okay, but how do you live with your parents until you're forty?" Logan rolls his eyes. "I just don't see how parents even allow that."
I talked him into watching Step Brothers with me in the common room, and eventually Amelia and Dion joined us too. I'm lying with my head in Logan's lap, sprawled out across one of the couches.
"That's what I've always said." Amelia shakes her head. "Elena always wants to watch this though."
"I don't see why y'all are hating on it." Dion looks down at Amelia while he runs his fingers through her hair. "This movie is funny as shit. I like it."
"Thank you!" I throw my hands up and look back up at Logan. "It doesn't have to make sense. It's just a funny movie."
The movie pauses and Logan looks down at me again. "Okay, I'll watch the rest of this movie with you, but first I want to grab some snacks. I'm going to that gas station down the street. Wanna come with?"
I nod and stand up beside him. He looks down at my crocs and shakes his head, a tiny grin appearing on his face.
"Anyone want anything?" He looks at Dion and Amelia, and after we're instructed to get chips and ice cream, we head towards the elevator.
"Dude." He looks down at my crocs again and let's out a laugh. "I am buying you new shoes."
"Just because they aren't little trust fund baby loafers doesn't mean they aren't cute. And, for the record, I wear them because they're comfortable."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." He says. "Sure."
The elevator dings and we both step inside. Logan shoves his hand into the pocket of his sweatpants and lets out another sigh. The silence is awkward, and I'm not really sure why. He seems more stressed today than normal.
"Are you alright?" I ask.
We head outside and are greeted with a soft breeze, which is unusual around here. I'm just thankful the sun is finally setting because otherwise I'd be sweating bullets out here in jeans and a long sleeved shirt.
"I mean, I'm okay." He shrugs. "Today was a hard day. That's all."
He's never serious, he's always cracking a joke, so I immediately look up at him and tilt my head to the side to analyze him. "What happened earlier? I didn't hear from you for all morning and you normally text me or something."
"Eh, I'm not really one to talk about my problems." He finally shows me a smile, but I can tell something is still bothering him. "Unlike you. I'll be fine though."
"Whoa!" I let out a laugh. "Unfortunately you met me during one of my mental freaking breakdowns, otherwise you'd know that I never cry. You've seen more than most have in my entire years of living."
