Ok so guess what guys, I messed up! Allow me to correct myself.

1. The chapter titles have been shifted because I accidentally jumped the gun on saying something was in Ch. 9 when it was actually still in Ch. 8
2. I missed some somewhat significant details in Ch. 8
3. I missed an opportunity to mock Tulkas, whom I despise

I seriously need an editor y'all. I apologize.

This isn't getting as many reads as it used to, but I'm still committed to the readers I DO have and to finishing this project. We have a long road ahead of us so...yeah let's jump in.

Chapter 8: Of the Darkening of Valinor CORRECTIONS

So I know I'm sorta backtracking here but bear with me. At some point I'll go through and edit everything and probably repost all at once in a new version but that will most likely happen once I've already gotten through at least the whole Silmarillion. This bit here will be chucked back where it belongs...eventually.

So the really rad party that was going on.

Manwe invited everyone from the whole Finwe/Feanor clan.

Finwe basically told him that while Feanor was banned from going to certain places he wouldn't be the king, go in front of his people, or even leave Formenos for that matter and basically told Manwe to go fuck himself.

I guess now we know where Feanor gets his whole trait of being a smartass to the Valar (remember Melkor came to visit Feanor and he slammed the door in the Dark Lord's face and called him names)

Fingolfin, however -- this is the brother who can't take a hint and got threatened with swords -- did make an appearance.

For some reason, Manwe told Feanor to come alone to the Ring of Doom to have some kind of chit chat about reconciling with his brother.

So they go stand in front of his creepy throne.

Fingolfin is like, "let's just pretend like this whole thing never happened my dude" and holds out his hand.

Feanor takes his hand.

We're making progress!

They kinda stare and wait for him to speak but he just stands there holding his brother's hand for a while.

Fingolfin says some heartwarming stuff like, "Half-brother in blood, full brother in heart will I be. Thou shalt lead and I will follow. May no new grief divide as."

(assuming that "as" was supposed to be "us")

Then Tolkien says some seemingly prophetic crap about how they don't know what those words actually mean which doesn't even make sense.

Feanor just kinda stands there and is eventually like "ok I hear you."

And then right after they talk Ungoliant comes and eats the trees.

Cool.

So the Valar are naturally like "that fucker!" and Orome and Tulkas immediately go to chase Melkor (who is still riding a giant spider) and even though Orome's horse is running so fast that it legit causes fires, Tolkien says that Manwe already knew that Melkor wouldn't be caught.
