To what extent are aspects of modern living endangering people's health?

The "modern lifestyle" we have has made our lives better and more convenient. The use of electronic devices such as computers and smartphones has become an integral part of our lives, and are used in vital sectors like healthcare, education, administration, and banking all around us. They could even be used to assist in supporting human life, for example machines are utilized as a substitute for certain organs and also help surgeons in the operation room, and in the future, they might evolve so far as to perform the surgeries themselves. However, in my opinion, even though these devices have improved our lives in various ways, overdependence on them might result in several detrimental problems for us.

Modern technology and equipment have increased our efficiency through speeding up extensive processes, cutting off unnecessary effort on certain methods and bypassing limits in the past, if not already making physical boundaries irrelevant. Teachers, doctors, and those in other professions alike are blessed by assisting programs and gadgets, meanwhile regardless of location, everyone's always connected to another city, country or continent, even without our knowledge.

Unfortunately, advanced technology has its drawbacks too. Cybercrime, for instance online frauds, identity theft and hacking are already endangering our security and privacy while simultaneously costing nations billions of dollars every year. False advertising also increases the risk of several health problems such as eating disorders, anorexia, as well as coronary diseases and obesity due to the fashion industry and the food industry respectively. Social isolation and more problems can also occur from an addiction to digital gadgets and/or the internet.

In conclusion, modern devices are extremely convenient, useful, and have helped us complete tasks we would never achieve without them. However, there are also drawbacks caused as well. Therefore, a limit on over-dependence should be considered, as well as solutions to the problems that arise. In this way, we may be able to manage the aspects of modern living well and co-exist with them in harmony for decades in the future.

* From my view, governments around the world have indeed taken action against the issue- In May 2020, drivers in France who use their phones risk losing their driving license for six months. In August, the action of walking while using smartphones are banned in Yamato city, Japan. Underweight problems are mostly gone in the fashion industry now, and uh, there's a pandemic now, isolation is pretty much mandatory, so I'll pass on that.
