Is the internet the best way to study?
Over the past few years, computer technology has played a very important role and has changed many aspects of our lives. One of those is the computerized approach to teaching and learning. Many people believe that the internet has enhanced our learning greatly. However, in my opinion, the costs outweigh the benefits.
First of all, students might suffer from health problems. By nature, studying in itself is an activity involving interaction with others and learning through experience rather than long hours of sitting in front of computers or even searching up the internet for answers within a click of the mouse, available to all. This will have a great impact on the student's health and will also cause problems such as poor sight or obesity. School offers them a chance to exercise and an opportunity to meet and socialize with people, thus making their health better instead of worsening them.
Another effect of the internet is the lesser contact between teachers and students. If a student can study courses on the net, the only beings they will have to interact with are the simulations and digital helpers online. Teachers won't even be needed in the near future and that is an issue yet to be solved.
In short, I appreciate that the internet is a useful source of information for students, but I do not agree that it's the better way for one to study.
