after school peter ran off to go somewhere as i walked home in silence with my headphones in. i got home and knocked on the door, waiting for may to answer. no response after a few minutes. "maybe she isn't home." i said to myself. i looked into the lock and put my hands out in front of me, thinking about the kitchen. a small portal opened in front of me but didn't grow big enough to get through. "for fucks sake." i sighed, closing it. i sat down at the door and closed my eyes, nodding off with my bag on my lap.
peter's P.O.V
i crept in through the window. it was around 6 in the afternoon. i expected y/n or may to be home by now but nobody was here. i changed into a sweater and some loose pajama pants, heading into the kitchen to grab water. i heard a small thud outside and walked to the door, assuming may dropped her bag. i opened the door and saw a sleeping y/n on the floor, leaning now against my feet. i chuckled to myself and pulled him inside, picking him up and closing the door behind me. i put him down on the couch and started cooking dinner, assuming may would be home late. i waited for y/n to wake up and the pasta to boil for a good 5 minutes. he eventually woke up, confused as to how he got inside. "how-" he mumbled, looking around tiredly. "morning." i chuckled as he put his arms out in front of him, small black sparks forming. "it's just me, chill man. i'm making pasta if you want any." i said as he withdrew, standing up and walking into the kitchen with me.
"you're cooking it wrong." he said, picking up a salt shaker and a wooden spoon. he shook a small amount of salt into the water and started to stir the pasta. "it's stuck to the bottom. and you forgot to salt the water." he said, pulling out the spoon. "how does that do anything?" i asked. "the salt helps it not boil over as fast and gives a little flavor." he replied, turning to face me. "i knew that." i lied. he nodded sarcastically, opening the fridge and getting a water bottle. "how was spiderman-ing?" he asked. "good, stopped some guy from breaking into a house." i replied. "you did turn him in, right?" he asked. i shook my head. "i webbed him- oh dear god." i replied, realizing my web fluid dissolves after a few hours. "i have to go, i'll be back for dinner!" i yelled, running off to get changed and go fix my error.
y/n's P.O.V
i stood in the kitchen cooking as the lock turned. "hello!" i called out, turning to face a tired may parker. "hey y/n honey, where's peter?" she asked. "he went to ned's after school. he'll be home in like 10. i'm making pasta." i explained. she nodded and put her bags down. "lord, work was tiring. i had to fill in for martin. he was away on family business." she explained, sitting down. "i bet. how is the old boy?" i asked, remembering meeting martin li a few years ago. "from my understanding he's ok." she replied, putting on some music. i nodded, taking the pasta off the stove and starting to serve it with cheese and forks. peter came in through the window and changed, coming out of his room. "oh you were already home." i suggested. "yeah, i showered." peter lied, grabbing a plate for may and himself. "may i've got homework so i'm gonna eat at the table if that's ok." i said. she nodded. "go ahead, doesn't bother me." she replied. i nodded and started moving to the table.
that night i slept on the couch. i slept surprisingly well, waking up the next morning to a sweet smell. i looked into the kitchen and saw may cooking breakfast. it was wednesday. "morning." i smiled, sitting up. "morning." she replied, putting breakfast onto plates. "morning." peter said tiredly from the walkway. his morning voice was cute. deep, masculine. unlike him. "i'm gonna borrow something clothes, ok?" i asked, beginning to eat. peter nodded and left to go showered.
time skip
i got dressed into a white t-shirt and my black binder with some black jeans and chains. i threw a black hooded jacket around my waist and put some cross earrings in, putting my bag over my shoulder as peter and i left for school. when we arrived i wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. i walked to my locker with my headphones in, not noticing flash coming up behind me. he tapped my shoulder and when i turned around he threw a bucket of water at me. my shirt got soaked and because it was white, went clear. he then dumped a pinky red slushy on my head and walked off, laughing. i just stood there in the dripping mess of a puddle underneath me, still. emotionless. i couldn't even comprehend what had happened before someone pushed me over into the lockers. i fell to the floor and sat there, staring blankly at the floor. i regained my sense of self and got up, walking to the bathrooms. i took the slushy off my head and scooped most of it back into the cup before throwing it out into the bin.
i couldn't do much about the shirt except squeeze it out and wait for it to dry. i couldn't thing about anything in those moments waiting. just how screwed i was that my binder was wet. i held my shirt in my hands, frantically flapping it in the air. i heard the door squeak open behind me and turned to see peter and ned. peter took off his jacket and handed it to me, offering me his flannel too. i declined the offer as ned offered me paper towels, taking the jumper. "guys i'm ok. i've just gotta keep a little covered." i said, trying to unclip the binder. "why?" ned asked. i turned around. "my binder got wet, i have to take it off. i don't wanna get dress coded." i replied, pulling the jumper over me and pulling my binder off underneath. i slid it onto the bench top and put my arms through the sleeves. "the bell goes in 20 minutes, we have time to dry your clothes." ned said, putting his phone away as i turned back around to them.
"here, we can hang them on top of the door." peter said, putting my shirt loosely over top of a stall door. "i'm screwed. should i just call may?" i asked, helping him. he shook his head. "she'd be at work by now. i'll head out and grab it." he said, about to leave. "don't get caught." i winked. he nodded and left, sticking me with ned. "so, do you have to catch up on homework?" he asked. i shook my head. "i just take a different exam. same material but more basic. i only missed a few big things." i explained, fanning my clothes as a teacher walked in. i froze in place as he slowly backed out. "i'm gonna hear it for that one." i mumbled, continuing to fan my wet clothes. i looked out the window and saw peter climbing our apartment building. i chuckled to myself and looked back to my clothes. "wait i have an idea." ned said, putting down his bag and digging through it, after a moment pulling out two traditional fans. he handed me one as we fanned them.
peter returned 5 minutes later with a binder and shirt. it was black and a whit binder. i thanked him and went into a stall, changing. i took my wet clothes and forced them into a bag. "as for your hair." peter said, handing me one of may's tea towels. i chuckled and hugged him, ruffling my hair with the towel. "we've gotta go, class starts soon." ned said. i nodded, grabbing my stuff and leaving with them.
