"Mom? You're home!" Julie was shocked when she entered their house.
"I am Juls, obviously?" She said, making Julie grin. She quickly ran to give her a hug.
"Ang bilis naman ng isang buwan?"
"Well mabilis lang naman 'yun kapag nag-eenjoy ka. I bet you really did enjoy your one month without me." Her mom pouted, making Julie chuckle.
"Of course my one month could have been better if you're here." She said, making her mom smile.
"Nasaan sila kuya?" She asked, turning her head to look for a sign of her brother and her sister-in-law.
"Well they kind of went for a vacation. They just left a couple of hours ago. Since I'm already here, your brother lifted his 'authoritative self'. Marami rin ako'ng nabalitaan Julie Anne, and you never spoke anything about those."
"Mom, I was keeping you away from worry. Siyempre malayo kayo and I don't want you to worry. How was Tita's operation?" She changed the subject.
"Well it really went smooth. Natanggal na yung tumor sa kanyang breast, and now she's recovering. She asked me to stay a little bit longer pero I know I had to see you. Now please tell me everything about this stalker of yours. Hindi ba umubra yung body guards ng kuya mo? Gosh I was hoping even an insect couldn't fly pass you."
"Mom chill, okay? Kuya said he's harmless already. Besides nasa presinto na siya although sabi ni kuya he's asking for a bail. Tsaka for sure matatakot na yun since he's already imprisoned."
"Well, I'm glad you seem so fine about it. Pero Julie Anne, I hope after that ee mas naging maingat na kayo ni Elmo. You never tried talking to me about him so your brother has been my secret paparazzi sa inyo."
"I know you'd do that mom kaya hindi na rin ako nagbigay ng update. Besides you'll just bother me with your 'gusto ko na ng apo' line all over again." She rolled her eyes.
"What? I'm not getting any younger Julie. I'm happy your brother and your ate Dei decided to go on a vacation. Baka makabuo na sila doon."
"Does this mean you'll stop bugging me about having a child?"
"We'll see." She winked.
They both spent the night catching-up, telling stories that Julie never got the chance to tell, or at least she didn't intend to tell.
"Oh anyway, before I forget. Remember your Master's Degree application sa University of Toronto? Your admission will expire next year February. Your sister has decided to continue her studies sa Canada."
"Really? I never thought about it until now. Nalimot ko na siya."
"You better make a quick decision honey. I know having to study in University of Toronto is one of your dreams. It'll only be three years away from the Philippines and you can even visit here during your breaks."
Julie fell silent for a couple of minutes. Naalala niya yung sarili niya two years ago, applying for an admission sa University of Toronto because she dreamt of obtaining her master's degree sa unibersidad na iyon. She even took the exam for it and unsurprisingly, she passed. Ngayon maglalapse na yung time allotted para makapag-enroll siya. And here she is, not sure what path to take.
She's thinking too many what ifs now. What if she took the chance after she got the results? Hindi lang naman natuloy yung pag-enroll niya last year because her father's dying. She has no courage to go to Canada, living there for three full years, knowing that she'll be leaving her family behind, with her dad bedridden.
What if she'll take the chance now? Elmo, she thought. She's surely not ready to leave Elmo, and The Voice, and her friends. But a part of her wants to really pursue this. It's already November and she only has roughly 3 months to decide.
Sayang naman kasi 'tong chance, she thought. But taking this will surely leave Elmo behind. No Elmo for the next three years. May facetime naman, may skype, may means of communication na. It's not like we'll not see each other. Pero yung timezones, for sure it will be hard for us to catch-up.
"Hey nagspace-out ka na. Are you okay?" Her mom broke her overthinking self.
She just nodded and took a deep sigh. Her mom quickly hugged her.
"I know you're confused with everything that's been going on lately. But please try to re-consider this sweety. I know your dad wanted you to become one of the famous singers in the country, but he also wanted you to take this. Remember when he blamed himself kasi hindi ka nakapag-enroll last year?"
"Mom you're making this more difficult for me."
"I know this time's your most difficult moment to decide because it's not just your family whom you're weighing. Elmo has entered the picture. But please think this through Julie. Sasakto yung end ng The Voice since January matatapos na siya. You could still have a month to prepare yourself para sa enrollment and interview."
"But..."
"I'll leave the decision to you Juls. I know you'll decide what will be the best for yourself. And trust me, I will completely honor your decision. Pero sana bilisan mo because your sister has decided. Mas maganda sana na sabay kayo'ng mage-enroll doon."
"I promise to think this thoroughly mom. Mom I'll be sleeping now. Sobrang pagod ako sa office." She yawned, finally giving up to her mom who's currently suffering from jet lag.
"Good night sweety!"

"Oh bff bakit parang bangag ka na naman? Jusko nag SOP ba kayo ni Magalona kagabi?" Maqui went to her working area to ask for a certain copy of Julie's report.
"Ano yung SOP? Sobrang Okey Pare?" She sloppily said.
"Huy kaloka ka sa GMA yun! Duh ABSCBN ang network mo no? Balimbing lang? Sex on Phone kasi."
"What? Maqui naman umagang umaga."
"Oh ee ano nga yung bumabagabag sa'yo?"
"Well remember my application for University of Toronto? Magla-lapse na kasi yung time for me to enroll next year Feb."
"OMAYGASH Oo nga! Ee 'di ba dream international school mo yun? Oh ee bakit parang lost ka?"
"Well before, gusto ko talagang mag-enroll. Remember I already had suitcases prepared? But that was...before."
"Correction! Before Elmo happened. Ngayon you're kind of having second thoughts because you do not want to leave Elmo behind." Julie nodded at what she said.
"Well if you're going to ask me, why not push it after The Voice? I mean 'di ba January siya mage-end? You'll still have the chance para makapag-enroll."
"That's what mommy said also. Nasa Pinas na siya."
"WHAT?! Nandito na si Marivic?"
"Uhh yeah."
"Okay mamaya na si Marivic. Going back, I know Elmo will understand kung kukunin mo man yung offer. I mean that's huge and promising!"
"Yeah about that, I don't think sasabihin ko siya kay Elmo, and please if ever man huwag na huwag mo'ng babanggitin yun sa kanya. I just don't want to talk about it ngayon."
"As you wish princess Julie. Oh yung report amin na dahil napasarap na yung chikahan natin. But please think about this. It'll be difficult pero I know you'll get this through." Maqui smiled at her and gave her a hug.
