When they headed back, they came to realize that the sun was slowly setting and they admired the beautiful colours the sky had painted.

Back at the party, everyone was dancing to some slow, soothing, melancholy tunes, just swinging around relaxed. In the background, Taehyung could see his aunt Hyejin holding his mom's hands while spinning around slowly, a bright smile on her face. He was glad to realize that she had fully enjoyed her birthday.

Jungkook was starting to get anxious again. He really hoped he wouldn't come across that devilish dog again but of course, the disturbing thing about little dogs was that they just popped out of nowhere. Like those ghosts in horror movies!

Taehyung realized how the boy next to him tensed up again and despite not being very fond of him, felt compassion for him. "Yeontan is probably sleeping right now, don't be scared."

The ravenette felt his cheeks heat up and his heart beat faster as he realized that maybe, just maybe, he was slowly earning a soft spot in Kim Taehyung's heart. That way, he came to an idea.

"You still owe me something, remember?" He could feel the brunette halt in his tracks next to him and smiled as he thought about how annoyed he must be right now.

"What do you want?," Taehyung then grumbled, looking down to the floor and kind-of pouting.

Not wanting to waste any time, Jungkook grabbed the other's soft, delicate hand and brought it up to his lips, pressing a chaste kiss on each of his knuckles.

While doing that, he looked up to see Taehyung's reaction, the other not saying anything, wide-eyed and gasping. He smiled again.

"May I have this dance?" The still dumbfounded brunette slowly nodded, forgetting how much he disliked Jungkook for a brief second.
After regaining his conscience, he rolled his eyes and tryed to look annoyed again.

"Fine." Jungkook, who still held Taehyung's hand tightly, smiled happily and dragged him towards the dance floor. He wanted to jump around and scream in that moment, but of course, he didn't.
And Taehyung had to admit, this was kind of cute.

No one had ever asked him to dance like that and as much as he didn't like Jungkook, he had to admit that his heart was fluttering, just a tiny bit of course.

Nervously, he put his hands on Jungkook's shoulders and stepped a bit closer and inhaled sharply when the younger hooked his arms around his waist and pulled him even closer.

And just in that moment, a new song started playing, 'Never Not' by Lauv. Conveniently, both of them knew this song, in fact, they loved it and enjoyed spending their teenage years fantasizing about their future love while listening to it.

Soon enough, Taehyung leaned into Jungkook's touch and the both of them swayed around, relaxing by the sound of the singer's calming voice.

"Hey, Beautiful?," Jungkook broke the pieceful atmosphere, and this time Taehyung didn't even mind the nickname that much.
"Hmm?"

"Why do you hate me so much?"
The brunette was caught off guard, not having anticipated this question.
"I don't hate you, I--"

"You dislike me strongly, I know. But why?" Taehyung shrugged and sighed.
"It's just, I didn't like your attitude at all. You just came off as someone who thought they were the best and that they could have anything and anyone they want, you know? Someone who doesn't give a shit about other's feelings and just fucks around for fun without considering any consequences."

The ravenette nodded, feeling a bit down.
Does he really think about me like that?
"Do... Do you still think about me that way?," he asked seriously.

Taehyung's breath hitched, he was about to answer with a 'Yeah' until he saw the look in Jungkook's face.
His eyes were just so big and round and full of emotions and sincerity, something inside him made him change his mind to a...

"I-I'm not sure. Not really?," he said carefully, which resulted in the ravenette smiling his cute smile again.
"So, how do you think about me now?" He pulled Taehyung a tad closer skillfully, so that there were only a few inches between them by now.

Normally, the brunette would have protested but this time, he didn't. It simply felt good.
"Uhh... You can actually be pretty nice, I think. My first impression may have been wrong, maybe? But, I still don't like it when you flirt with me!," he then answered, getting a bit louder towards the end.

"Taehyung, you probably think I flirt with lots of people and I just flirted with you to confuse you. Well, actually, I flirted with you because I wanted to get close to you. And I flirted with only you, from the moment I saw you." Taehyung blinked in disbelief, his long, thick eyelashed batting and making him look like a lost puppy.

"B-But why? I'm not that special, you don't even know me. And I'm not that attractive, either. I'm just... average."
He gasped when Jungkook pulled him even more towards him, so that his arms were now circling his neck and his face was smushed against his upper chest.

"Taehyung, you're anything but average. You're the most attractive person I've ever seen. And you have such a strong and interesting personality, I'm honestly intrigued. You... just take my breath away," he breathed out.

"I don't know what to say... Thank you." Jungkook smiled internally. This was the first time Kim Taehyung had ever thanked him.
He gave the still speechless boy a huge smile.

After a while, Taehyung lifted his head from Jungkook's chest a bit and opened his mouth, planning on saying something.
Seeing the younger's encouraging look in his eyes, he carried on.

"Actually... I also didn't like you because... You reminded me of someone I knew. Someone I thought I knew. S-Sorry." He lowered his gaze towards the ground but looked up quickly when he felt two fingers below his chin.

"Hey, it's okay. I'm not judging you for it. And you don't have to tell me anything. Actually... Your first impression on me wasn't that wrong. I used to be a careless and self-centered person, only thinking about myself and not about others. I was pretty troubled, actually... That's why I transferred here, to change. At first, I didn't want to but now, I'm trying to better myself." The ravenette smiled softly, with a beautiful glimmer in his eyes, Taehyung couldn't explain it.

It was like his eyes were full of sparks. Or stars. As if he carried a whole galaxy in his orbs.

"Let's just have, like, a fresh start?," he then asked carefully, seeing the other's adorable bunny smile on display again.

"Sure, under one condition." Taehyung's face fell.
"What condition?"

"Stop calling me 'Jeon Jungkook' every time you talk to me. Hearing my full name so often makes me feel weird. Distant." He laughed, the brunette actually joining in.

Holy shit, did I just hear him laugh? Oh my god, I made him laugh. Kill me already.

"Okay, fine." The both of them loosened their hold around each other and shook hands.

"My name is Kim Taehyung. Nice to meet you."
"My name is Jeon Jungkook. Nice to meet you."

"But don't think this makes us friends! Yet."
"Whatever you say, Taehyung...",

And the next song started playing.
