The Run of The Place

Ken's POV

I've been here for about a week and im begining to enjoy it. The Brotherhood really does treat eachother like family and i for one really missed this feeling of protection, of having a secure and safe place i could call home.

My assassination contracts have been going smoothly. So far i've done three others after my initiation; a cheating wife which i killed while she was sleeping with her new lover, a taxi driver that i stabbed from the back while in his car, and a nurse who i had to stalk until she went home and killed her there.

As you can imagine, havin someone murdered is quite expensive so my payment is pretty great. To put it into words, lets say... i might be able to buy a new car in the next two months.

Living conditions are also awesome. Haven is a really secure place but suprisingly cozy. I mean, i would like to have (Y/N)'s company more often (preferably in my bed) but apparently he doesn't usualy live here and only comes here either for work or to check on things. Still, he's here almost everyday so im not complaining.

Speaking of (Y/N), im thinking of advancing our relationship more. We've been on two dates so far and i think it may be a good time to get a bit more... 'intimate'

Anyway, that's still gonna be a plan for the future. I'll keep my mind on the present for now.

Im in my room in Haven reading a book that i borrowed from the library recently. I always had a hobby of reading but ever since i joined the Aogiri i've kind of went off on my reading. Thankfuly, The Brotherhood doesn't have a fixed scheduel and the contracts are done in our own time so i get a chance to catch up.

After a few more minutes of reading, i heard a knock on my door. I put a pen in between my book and set it down on the table, i left my couch and walked to the door and opened it to reveal Lily holding a small red plastic lunch-box.

Lily "Here!"

Ken "what's this?" I ask as i took the box she was offering. I smelled... meat? I opened the box to see something that took me back to a darker time... Human flesh. My eyes went wide as i looked at it. I then looked at Lily who tilted her head in confusion.

Lily "What? It's human. Sorty, we didnt know if you prefered it cooked or raw."

I gave her the box back and shook my head, trying my damdest to resist eating it.

Lily took the hint and grabbed it from my hands, she then slid it on the floor so somewhere else down the hallway. I decided to invite her in to explain.

We both sat on the couch as Lily rubbed my back to calm me down. Soon enough, i did. And i started to apologise.

Ken "sorry..."

Lily "It's okay. But.. you're a ghoul right? I thought ghouls need to eat human?"

Ken "Im... different. Im a half-ghoul. And i kinda learned to eat normal food. The only time i need to eat humans is when im badly injured."

Lily "Oh!... oh im so sorry, we had no idea!"

Ken "No, it's fine..."

After a few more moments of silence, i decided to ask.

Ken "Are you guys really okay with the whole 'ghoul eating humans' thing?"

Lily "well yeah! ... we're a family, that means we accept eachother for who they are and we support them."

I was taken aback slightly by her statement. After awhile she continued.

Lily "The Brotherhood consists of both ghouls and humans each with their own individual characters. Ghouls need to eat humans and we are perfectly fine with that!"

Curious, i decided to ask.

Ken "Out of curiosity... where did you actualy get the human meat from?"

Lily "Assassination targets. The Collectors take some of the ones that we kill back here for the ghouls who need to eat. Collectors are still assassins and does contracts just like everyone else, but they also take some of the bodies back here. Currently The Brotherhood only has one Collector and that is Rain."

Rain is the one that brings the bodies back? Huh... well that explains where he goes whenever he's not in Haven.

After explaining all that, Lily left to tell The Black Hand of my 'unique' tastes so that the family can accomodate to it. I then slounched into my sofa and picked my book back up.

Well, best get back to reading.

After opening the book, i felt a slight shift on the sofa and feel warm air on my neck. I slowly turned my head around.

Ken "AAAAAHH!!!"

I fell off the sofa the flung my book somewhere in the air from shock.

(Y/N) "Hello!"

Ken "WHEN THE HELL DID YOU GET HERE??!!"

(Y/N) "Uhh.. let me see... since Lily started explaining about Collectors?"

Ken "You know... im begining to see why you're a good assassin... you have no presence."

(Y/N) "(^w^)"

Ken "Heh... cutie."

I got back up and sat back down on the couch. (Y/N) leaped over from the back of it as if the couch was some sort of hurdle and landed next to me.

I wrapped one of my arms around his shoulder and pulled him close. His head resting on my shoulder and continued reading my book. We stayed like that for at least half an hour until i noticed a small snore coming from my side. i turned and noticed that (Y/N) had fallen asleep.

I chuckled and put my book down once more, leaving a pen in the middle so i can continue reading later. I picked (Y/N) up on my back and set him on my bed. Looking at the clock, it was 13:03.

Hmm... well i guess a nap won't hurt.

I took off my shirt and went into the bed with my already sleeping boyfriend. Grabing the blanket, i pulled it over both of us and snuggled into him, wrapping my arms around his smaller frame and pulling it close to my bare chest. Finaly closing my eyes and falling into a peaceful sleep.
