Job Hunting

Ken's POV

*Beep Beep Beep*
"Fuck...." I awake to a new day and to the sound of my god-forsaken alarm testing my will to live. I smacked the table only to feel that my hand came in cotact with a plastic bag of sorts. I grogily opened my eyes to see a bento box inside of a plastic bag with a note tied to it using a neatly tied (f/c) favourite colour ribbon.

Loosening the bow on the ribbon and sliding it off, i took the note and brought it to my face. Given that i just woke up a few seconds ago my vision was still very blurry, squinting my eyes to hone in i read the somewhat-visible letter. It reads....

Wakey wakey!
I noticed that you forgot this at the table yesterday so i delivered it over to your apartment. Don't ask how i know. Hope you enjoy your breakfast and baybe we could hang-out sometime.

P.S. You didn't lock the window :3

I chuckled to myself as i read his letter. Something about it makes me feel warm and comforted. Im also really suprised to see that (Y/N) has suprisingly good hand-writing. It took me by suprised as i wouldn't expect such elegant penmanship coming from an 18 year-old who has a face that belongs in middle school.

My stomach then grumbled, interupting my thoughts and made me focus back on the bento box. I opened it and saw that it was the bento Goro had ordered yesterday, did he really order this for me? I should thank him when i get the chance.

Actually, i think it's a good thing that he ordered this for me seeing my current financial situation. Im as broke as college student after making a few friends. I guess i need to go search for a job huh?

After eatin my bento and taking a bath, i left my appartment thinking of a place where i can sigh-up. Then again, what job would accept me? I guess i could be a barista? I've lived my whole life with coffee so i can proudly say that i know a thing or two about making a good coffee.

With my plans set, i walked towards the caffee i did yesterday to ask if i could aply there.

"How did i not notice that?" I say to myself as i look up and see that the café has a big sign with lights that says 'Neo's Café' which i assume is the café's name. Of course, since it's morning they turned off the lights but seing the size of the sign alone should've made me notice that.

I walked into the café and looked arround for a place to sit. The café was suprisingly empty this time and it looks like the workers are on their break and then in the corner table i saw (Y/N) yet again. This time he was sitting with another guy that seems somewhat familiar to me.

He looked over to my direction and i waved one of his hands up high in the air with his mouth showing a gaping smile. He is such a kid...

I walked over towards his table and then sat down, or to be more precice, he pulled me down.

I looked over at the guy sitting in front of (Y/N) and he offered his hand for me to shake and i did so.

"Yo. Im Rain."

"Kaneki. Nice to meet you."

We both let go. He seems nice and generally has that 'cool guy' feel to him.

"Soooo what brings you here Kaneki? Oh and did you saw the bento?" (Y/N) asked keeping his bright smile.

"Yes, thanks by the way." I answered him.

"No prob! I'll gladly sneak in through your window again." (Y/N) said. I honestly cant tell if he's lying or not and it's scaring me.

"No! Not because of that!"

(Y/N) giggled and laughed at my remark and Rain seems to chuckling too.

"Well to be honest im here to aply for work." I said to the two of them after they stopped laughing.

"Oh really?" Rain inquiered.

I simply nodded my head.

"Well you're in luck! I've been looking for a partner to work with." Rain stated with a big grin on his face.

"Don't i need to talk to the manager or a job interview or something?"

"Well yeah, and you probably also need to show the boss your skills in making coffee. Or in the case of (Y/N), making sugary drinks and cakes for him."

"Coffee is bitter! I dont like it" (Y/N) said, slightly pouting at Rain's remark.

"Come on. I'll take you to the boss." Rain said as he got up and offered me to follow him.

I did as i was asked and got up, saying to (Y/N) that i'll be back soon. To which he replied by saying 'good luck!!' And giving me a thumbs-up.

Rain took me behind the 'employees only' door. The place looks suprisingly nice and clean and even had sofas and TV's in it, im asuming that would be for when the employees take breaks.

He continued to lead me up the stairs and to the second floor of the building to which he stopped me infront of a wooden door and sat me down on the sofa next to it.

Rain told me to sit down and wait as he walks into the room first. I waited there for a few minutes looking at the surrounding area and fidgeting with my fingers nervously. After those few minutes Rain came back out with a smile on his face an pointed his thumb to the door, signalling me to go in.

Sure hopes this all goes well....
