Turning A New Leaf

Ken's POV

*Beep beep beep*
I awoke to the sound of my alarm but im not gonna smack it arround anymore, you know why? Because i've found a new purpose to be alive.

I turned off the alarm and streched, letting the drowsiness shoot off my body. I hopped out of bed, seeing the only peace of clothing i was wearing (pants.) And tidied my bed. I didn't even bother to do this before, i always just left it at a messy state.

I grabbed a towel and headed to the bathroom and redied myself... for work.

You heard that right! I got accepted! I've worked there for about eight days and im loving it so far. The boss is a friendly and kind man, Rain has been teaching me how to go about the café, I was put on barista duty so i don't come face-to-face with the customers unless the café is really crowded.

But know what the best part is? I get to see (Y/N) almost everyday. He's a loyal customer that drops by almost every morning to get his, what i would like to call 'morning sugar rush' and what calls 'early snack.' Seriously this kid chugs down sugar as if it were air. Diabetes must be a close friend of his.

Coming back to reality,I finish up my shower, brush my teeth, and dry myself off. I walk out and put on a white suit, some black pants, socks and shoes. I grabbed my backpack and went out of my appartment with a smile this time. Life really is turning around, though i do miss the excitement of the old days... wonder if i'll ever get a chance to live like that again.

As i walk the streets towards Neo's Café i was cought up by the sound of someone calling my name.

(Y/N) "Kaneki! Oi wait up!"

"Huh?" I look behind me and sure enough, (Y/N) was eaving his hands while bolting toward me.

Ken "Good morning (Y/N), what are you doin here? You normally just drive to the café by car."

(Y/N) "I think 'driven' would be more correct given that i can't drive. But i thought i'd take in a bit of fresh air and walk instead. Oh speeking of, wanna walk together?"

I could feel my heart melt at his cuteness. His voice compliment his face and attitude perfectly, and to really take it to the next level was his big smile.

At this point i have completely accepted the fact that i like him and i have a massive crush on him but i want to move my relationship slowly as to not make any mistakes here, i hurt Touka by advancing our relationship too far and she wanted to break-up after she got pregnant. The last thing i want is to hurt (Y/N).

So with that in mind, for now we'll keep it by being friends, i'll slowly advance and eventually i'll ask him out on a date.

"Yes. Let's walk together" I said.

After hearing that, he gave me the biggest smile yet. God that smile is gonna be the only thing on my mind for this whole day isn't it?

I chuckled and then i ruffled his hair, and he gave me his cute little giggle and we walked to the café in blissful hapiness.

Aaannndd that's a wrap! It's not a very long chapter i know but im working on multiple stories at once and some that have yet to be released. But regardless i hope you have enjoyed reading this short but sweet chapter.
