Love & Ride

Chapter 9

It's finally Monday. I wake up and leave my hair naturally curly and wear my new sweatshirt with black jeans torn at the knees and my squared pair of converse. I put the new case I bought for my phone, It's black with white stars and planets on it. I put my drawing journal in my bag. I spent most of yesterday drawing, something I used to do all the time but since school started, I found myself really busy.

I plug my headphones to my phone and put 'thin white lies' by 5 seconds of summer, one of my favourite bands.

I walk into school and find Isobel waiting for me beside my locker.

- "Hey" she says.

- "Hey. What's up?"

- "I know I should've told you before but, I found out who 'K' is."

- "Oh my God! Who is he? Do I know him?"

- "His name's Kyle. He's 16 and he moved from Seattle this year. He's cute."

- "I want to see him! How did you find out?" I say as I open my locker to get a book.

- "Easy, I was at my locker and he was staring at me. I went to talk to him and he said his name was Kyle, then I said: Oh my God you're K! and he turned all red so I knew I was right."

- "And?"

- "And we have a date."

- "A date! Wow! When? How?" I close my locker and we start walking towards our classes.

- "We talked and we decided to grab something to eat after school."

- "Oh! Take him to Leslie's so we can spy on you." I say and laugh.

- "No way! He's choosing the place." We stop at my math class's door.

- "Can you describe him or do you have a picture?"

- "Oh my God." Isobel says while staring at something behind me.

- "What?" I ask and turn around. "Oh my..." What I see leaves me speecheless and for a moment, I can't even move.

- "Sarah!" I scream automatically. I almost can't recognize her. Her hair's half blue and she took off her glasses. She has a nose piercing! She's wearing a black AC/DC hoodie with black jeans and black boots. It's not my Sarah. It's not the girl I met 8 years ago. That girl was happy and wore colours all the time. She's so pale that her blue eyes shine like diamonds in the middle of her face.

She stares at us without moving. I don't know what to do too.

- "Hey, uh..." Isobel starts.

I make my way to her and hug her but she doesn't hug me back.

- "How are you?" I ask her.

- "I'm fine." She says then looks down. "I have to uh, get to the office." She walks by me and leaves.

- "Hey wait! I'll walk with you."

- "No, I'm fine."

She walks fast and disappears in the crowd. Even her bag's black! She always hated those.

- "Well, she's back." Isobel tells me.

- "No she's not. That's not Sarah. We'll find her later with Cooper and talk to her."

The bell rings and we get to class.

Cooper, Isobel and I looked for Sarah at lunch but we didn't find her so when school was finally over, we were the first kids at the door to make sure that we do not miss her. We watch everybody get out, I tried to spot Jordan but I don't see him. I wanted to talk to him too at lunch but he was with all his teammates so I didn't.
