I try to catch my breath as I turn off the machine I've been running on for 30 minutes now. I haven't been to the gym in quite some time, I just hope I'll get used to all these exercises quickly. I use my towel to wipe away the sweat on my forehead as I make my way to the counter at the back of the gym to take my water bottle, wearing a pair of leggings and a sports bra.I empty half my water then fix my ponytail and head back to where I was, ready to work out my abs, so many thoughts invading my head that I don't even feel tired.
Mom left for a 2 day trip to Seattle a few hours ago. I stayed in today, cleaned up around the house and sorted out some of my clothes. I definitely need more hoodies, we're already in November and snow is coming. Like Lorelai Gilmore says 'I smell snow'.
Tyler and I didn't see each other since he dropped me off at home yesterday morning. Waking up in his arms feels so weird but so... natural at the same time! We're still kind of shy around each other but it's getting better. After what happened the other night, I can definitely tell that we both feel more comfortable. Around 11am today, he texted me good morning and asked how I was, he didn't ask if I had plans or anything, he was just checking in so the conversation didn't go far. After mom left, I decided that it was time I go back to the gym, with winter coming, all I'll be doing is laying in my bed watching Christmas movies while drinking hot chocolate with home baked candy.
When I'm done with my sit ups, I wipe my sweat and put my t-shirt back on then assemble my stuff, ready to walk back home. I open the door and jump out of surprise when I see the amount of rain falling from the sky.
- "Fuck." I whisper to myself.
I wrap my arms around myself, feeling cold only wearing a t-shirt. When I got here it was pretty sunny. I bite my bottom lip as I try to think of a solution. I call an Uber then wait for about 20 minutes but it doesn't show up. I walk to the edge of the street and try to hail a cab but nobody stops. I get back near the gym, soaking wet as I take my phone. Mom isn't here, neither is Monica.
I sigh as I pass by Tyler's number. I quickly click on it, my heart starting to beat faster and faster.
*phone call*
- "Hey." He picks up after 3 rings.
- "Tyler?" The rain is pouring down so hard that it's really hard to hear him on the other end.
- "Skyla? What is this noise? Where are you?" He sounds worried.
- "I uh, I'm at the gym and it's raining. Could you uh, come pick me up?" I wince as the rain pours harder.
- "Text me the address, stay inside I'll be there soon." He says then hangs up.
*end of phone call*
I do as he says and text him the address straight away. I go back inside and sit on a chair facing the door and wrap my hands around myself. Why did I go out like this? It's fucking November.
After 10 minutes, Tyler opens the door and scans the room till his eyes fall on me. he stars making his way to me, his hair slightly wet from walking from his car till here. Wearing all black like usual, he's the definition of the word gorgeous.
Suddenly, I notice all the feminine stares on him, some girls whispering and giggling between each other as they keep checking him out. I feel the need to slap them so they finally look away. He doesn't look at anyone, only me, but they're still getting on my nerves.
When he's finally in front of me, I stand up and smile shyly.
- "Jesus Skyla! It's freezing outside! Why are you wearing a t-shirt?" he asks as he rubs his hands up and down my arms, attempting to warm me.
