Love & Ride

Chapter 26

I don't know if it's just me, or the school really is different. I walk to my locker and I empty some books from bag. Just as I close the door, Cooper comes to me, almost running.

- "Woah, woah, what's going on?"

- "Good news!" She's shaking with excitement.

- "Tell me." I laugh.

- "Okay, so, as everybody knows, we have a big football game in just a week, and one of the girls quit the team because of her parents and her bad grades or some shit. Anyway, the whole team voted and Kate just announced that you got your spot back!"

- "What?"

- "It's amazing I know!"

- "I don't know. I don't think I want to go back to cheerleading."

- "Oh come on, it was so fun, and the team is lame without you."

- "I'll think about it."

- "Please! Please!"

- "You're not going to stop, are you?"

- "Not till you say yes."

- "Ugh, okay, okay. I'll come back."

- "Yay!" She hugs me so tight that I can't breathe. "It's going to be amazing!"

- "I hope so." I say when she finally lets go of me.

- "What's this?" She says as she touches my necklace. "It's Tyler's." She gives me a confused look.

- "Yeah, it looked good so..."

- "Skyla..."

- "What?"

- "Do you have feelings for him?"

- "No! that's totally messed up, he's horrible."

- "Are you sure?"

- "Yes, it's just a necklace." The bell rings. "See you at lunch." I wave at her then head to my class.

It's impossible to have feelings for that bastard, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. But at the same time, I think about him all the time, and when I see him, I start feeling things, and I don't know what it means.

I sigh then get it my class. We're a week away from the game, so we have to practise every day. I sit at the back of the class then get my stuff out.

- "No, Skyla, it's left, left, right." Kate screams.

I groan then do the choreography again. The week passed by pretty quickly, I got my position back in the team and Kate made it pretty hard for me. The game's tomorrow and she wants to make sure that our dance number is perfect, God I miss Courtney.

- "Okay, once more and then we're done."

We get on position and do as she says. When we finish, Cooper's mom gives me a ride and I thank her infinitely because I was way too tired to walk. I take a quick shower then put on some pyjamas and sleep directly.

- "Ready girls?" Kate asks and we nod. "Let's go!"

We leave the lockers and head to the field. It's time for the big game. Our team wins every time, and every time, there's a celebration party. I don't know how she does it, but Cooper always convinces me to go to those, so I promised her that I'd come.

We get on position and cheer up the boys entering the field.

I start stretching when a guy named Aidan comes to me.
